I just had a match where I (Someone who has been here since 2022) just had a very one sided match against two new players. This deeply saddened me tbh. This also had me thinking of a system that new players can “Skip” the line so to speak.
I believe they should get 3 fully maxed out useful infantry squads (Perhaps Level 2 Assaulter squad, Engineer, MG Squad and a full vehicle squad) this allows them to have a fighting chance at competing against veteran players that have maxed out the Tech Tree with all the soldiers having the highest level/max stats and fully upgraded equipment.
Now before anyone says “I don’t like this” or “I had to earn my own way” I understand but Enlisted is a fairly niche FPS. I’d say more people are willing to accept stomp matches much more on a more mainstream game like CoD or Battlefield, both due to sunk-cost money investment (Compared to a F2P) and it being a much more popular game compared to Enlisted’s relatively niche popularity. I implore we push for this to improve player retention and to avoid extremely one-sided matches. Once the tough part has been done (Getting a solid squad composition) I feel it will be a much more pleasant experience for newer players. I believe this should be available as an option for players who had started at 2 years or less (Being extremely generous here, so the largest amount of people fall into it.) If you ABSOLUTELY (I highly disagree with this btw) have to monetise it make it relatively cheap like 500 gold.
Because if this game is to maintain a solid playerbase into the future we NEED to keep a consistent playercount and its not fun to do stomping or be stomped in a game. We all want to have fun and enjoy it but whenever I see a stomp match there is always multiple players leaving the game whether on my side or the enemy side. The only other alternative I can see is the rather controversial Skill-Based Matchmaking.
This game is gonna die one day, it’s basically inevitable of all games eventually but if we can change it from lets say 3 years from now to 5 years from now that’s two extra years of fun normal match making. Before the games become something like modern day CoD Black Ops 1 where it’s the same people playing on the same one or two servers. Which is fun but will eventually get tiring.
Also this could possibly be done through a complete revitalisation of the “Beginner” packs DF/Gaijan sells. Which to be brutally honest SUCKS. It’s extremely out of date. However if they go down the monetising path (Which I wouldn’t put it past them) throw in a random low tier solid Premium squad like the UD M42 NOT one of those old premiums like the Gewehr 41 Engineer squad.
Thank you for your post, I agree.
At an absolute minimum engineers should be freely available from the start.
People wonder why there aren’t enough rallypoints and ammo boxes well maybe let new players learn the benefits of engineers quickly!
Plus you physically cant build stuff if you havent got engineers.
We also need to get rid of medics or just have them as a foldered niche squad for those that want em.
All factions should have assaulter I and II not medics which are a very useless squad.
Definitely the Engineer squad should be the first one to unlock in the TT, considering just how important they are. I’m still surprised that this isn’t the case.
Yeah this is one of the few suggestions I can agree with wholeheartedly - and it will make the initial grind a wee bit faster for newbies since the can score a bit more with constructions.
Maybe, if you weren’t playing in noob lobbies (probably BR3 or 2) you wouldn’t be stomping them.
It is more important to make them give up their sniper rifles than to learn how to build respawn points.
No offence, you should also be allowed to have a minimum age range selection. With this new bug where I hear other players talking during the match…they sound like young teens…their battle stats at the end are brutal…nothing like putting in work for 150+ kills…to see these teammates finish with 9 on asniper or mortar squad. At least now I know who I always see running the other direction then the objective.
These players can be in all lobbies…get a BR5 event squad and away they go. Stat lines are similiar in ALL BRs.
Just because you unlock them first doesn’t mean you’ll use them…in BR3-5 there are people who don’t, or play the objective, disarm anything…heck even mark things.
And the Truck apc squad can also be moved to BR I they are very important game mechanics that should be easy to unlock.
Maybe the BR isn’t a good judge of how experienced players are. There’s noobs at BRV and Veterans at BRIII.
A lot of new players get a single weapon, like the Mkb 35 in the current event, and immediately equip it without being ready to face the new BR and end up a lot higher than they have proper equipment for. Playing high BR doesn’t exclude new players anymore than playing low BR excludes Veterans
it shouldn’t be first to unlock, no, it should be FROM BASE, get rid of the fucking stupid snipers, swap it!
“you should lock yourself out of 3/5 of game content because you’re a veteran”
How does this make sense? Especially given that there are a plethora of unique low-BR premiums, event squads, and BP weapons?
Or that BRV is a even more filled with HE spam and weird prototype weapons and all the iconic things are at BRIII
