Not a hot take, at least for me, because I agree with that. And I’ve been thinking about it.
Imagine a focused update on solely improving AI, or new maps. Instead of gimmicky stuff. More maps means more gameplay, and we’ll be enjoying our premiums in more variety of fronts.
New weapons it’s cool and all, but new maps means less burnout from the playerbase. New maps keeps things exciting and there will always be an ever-expanding list of suggestion for new fronts try, and even ones that are mainstream popular and would’ve been featured in a WW2 game back in 2003, and they’re still yet to be featured here. So there’s a lot of fresh content ideas, and unlike weapons. Which has reached a point of rehashing and prototyping so much it’s losing its core WW2.
Bottom line for me. I think this new map will be an historical border dispute conflict from WW2, it could be Karelia, Manchuria or maybe Poland. All options sound cool to me. But please devs, don’t stop there. Keep making new maps.
I wish they would experiment more with some updates/events. Try rebalancing the game as an event to see if people like. I use my “SRN Remastered” mod as an example. Instead of the generic balanced invasion mode, there are more obstacles, games are longer, gunplay is slower, class-based loadouts (ex: engineers are the only ones with mines aside from a few exceptions), etc… It (at least imo) results in more dynamic and thoughtful gameplay, makes the game really fun, and I prefer to use my brain instead of just bum-rushing the point every game.
I would happily let my mod be used as some sort of experimental event, no credit needed. I just want to see more experimentation with the game’s mechanics, this game is so unique, and I hope that it can be even better with a little work.
Tbf, the Lewis gun was both very much asked for and arguably required, it just should have really really been in the TT, and also not called the fucking Lewis Gun .303 as if that wasnt the main round hte Lewis gun was chambered in.
Dang I have a sneaking feeling the only real similarities is the mountains but that’s it the trees are generally the same but layout is off
Scratch that even the road is off in material and layout
Enlisted leak has it going in more a snake like curvature
While WT just has a split point that’s both is a C shape idk what the original road is bc that snap shot doesn’t give us much info
Even the trees are kinda off it has alot more trees than enlisted and the road has a more tan shade with grass patch at the middle where enlisted is just complete mud
The Fedorov was just so unneeded, but I guess the mid at best Armaguerra was too OP for the soviet mains and they needed their own OP counter for it or something. (I say this like I dont prefer to use mosin for BR2 anyway).
There are lots of items missing from tech trees. Soviets and japan should get another br 1 smg, japan needs br 3 at launchers, soviets need br 1 attacker plane and multiple planes in br 4, japan needs assault rifle, germany needs br 5 smg, japan needs br 5 smg, allies need br 3 attacker, germans and soviets need br 2 shotguns, allies and japan need br 5 sniper, japan needs br 3 sniper, new rider 2 jeeps and light vehicles for all factions, lewis gun in allies tt and more italian stuff
Scoped M2 carbine, Lewis gun with 47 and 97 round pans, a BR4 TT rifle,
Cromwell, Comet, Centurion, Spitfire mk.XIV and many other British vehicles
Actual APCs like M3A1 half-track, Kangaroo APC, better rider vehicles like jeeps, armoured cars, IFVs like M3A1 scout car.
And we are yet to talk about all the wonderful French weapons and vehicles that are just waiting for France to be a proper subfaction.
The distinction between a tank destroyer and assault gun/self-propelled gun was sometimes muddy. Famously SU-152 and ISU-152 were self-propelled guns, intended against fortifications and for fire support, but they were found successful as tank destroyers too.
But to give credit where credit is due, the picture in question is that of a prototype ISU-152 variant intended primarily as a heavy tank destroyer.
Pure wishful-thinking bonus, because either prototype or already Premium content:
Production Centurion Mk I - BR V. WW2 prototypes were pre-production, thereby less armour, I will refer to the Japanese tech tree for this one, and the God damn single example modified Pershing in the Allied tech tree.
Sherman Firefly - Either the welded hull style to technicly be different from the Premium one (not my favourite option), or Premium version gets x2 RP-3 rockets added to it, so the standard version is free to be placed in the tech tree.
These rockets, being so few in numbers (only two), and so spaced out (from both each other and the tank itself), should not cause any chain reactions or lead to the tanks destruction if they are destroyed (could still kill nearby infantry I guess). This would be a pure upgrade for the Premium version, so that a standard one can be added to the tech tree.
Matilda II - Already a Premium, but if the Premium one was perhaps upgraded into the Matilda Hedgehog, that would just be funny…
Just think about it, a heavy tank capable of roleplaying as a mortar as well (ca 200y range, actually less than mortars in game).
Especially when the “new content” is just fakes, prototypes, captured weapons, etc.
The actual WW2 content is already so freaking diluted in this game.
You see ten Fedorov 1912s, Lewis Rifles, Hino Kimuros and Uragans before you see a single MP-40 which should be almost everywhere and on everyone in a WW2 game.
While they do sound cool, for me personally it’s painful to realize that we are now in Enlisted era where every map needs to be BR 1-5.
And BRs are all over the place regarding historical context. Not to mention also event and premium squads.
So regardless if we eventually get maps with names like France 1940, Poland, Manchuria, Khalkhin Gol, Karelia, Sicily, etc. – it will be just the name only.
Because what we’ll actually get will be Chinese soldiers at Dunkirk 1940, supported by Arab guys in robes, with Americans on M24 Chaffee, fighting against Italians with Volkssturm on Pumas.
(Unless we eventually get a proper deep rework of the 4x5 system but I don’t think we ever will)
