Yeah, the Lewis thing was insulting. I haven’t forgotten that.
Scoped M2 carbine, Lewis gun with 47 and 97 round pans, a BR4 TT rifle,
Cromwell, Comet, Centurion, Spitfire mk.XIV and many other British vehicles
Actual APCs like M3A1 half-track, Kangaroo APC, better rider vehicles like jeeps, armoured cars, IFVs like M3A1 scout car.
And we are yet to talk about all the wonderful French weapons and vehicles that are just waiting for France to be a proper subfaction.
The distinction between a tank destroyer and assault gun/self-propelled gun was sometimes muddy. Famously SU-152 and ISU-152 were self-propelled guns, intended against fortifications and for fire support, but they were found successful as tank destroyers too.
But to give credit where credit is due, the picture in question is that of a prototype ISU-152 variant intended primarily as a heavy tank destroyer.
Here’s but what’s missing for a fully fledged Commonwealth faction, only using real life historicly used gear (consider listening to this whilst reading):
Sensible, must-have future tech tree unlocks for a fairer Commonwealth
Guns
-
Sten Mk V (as you mentioned, BR II),
-
47-round Lewis (BR III),
-
97-round Lewis (BR V),
-
60-round Vickers K (using different sights from the Event version, BR IV),
-
100-round Vickers K (using different sights from the Event version, BR V),
-
No 1 Mk III* HT (WW2 Australian SMLE Mk III Sniper rifle, single bullet reload so it can be in BR II, coming in a future suggestion of mine),
-
No. 3 Mk I* (T)A (WW2 era sniper conversion of the P14, different from the WW1 era Premium rifle, coming in a future suggestion of mine),
Ground-Vehicles
-
Churchill Mk IV (most produced version of the tank, BR III),
-
Cromwell Mk IV or V (BR III),
-
Comet I (BR IV),
-
Valentine Mk III (different from Soviet Mk II by the addition of a loader, BR II, other late-war versions can be event/premium),
-
AEC Armoured Car Mk II or III (BR II),
-
Universal Carrier as Rider vehicles (armed with x2 Brens or 1 Vickers K + Bren, BR II, hopeful future Rider II class),
Aircraft
-
Gloster Gladiator (BR I starter plane),
-
Fairey Firefly (fighter, one or more variants spaced out to in the tech tree to give Commonwealth carrier aircraft),
-
Hawker Typhoon (BR IV or V attacker, depending on bomb load)
-
So many possible Spitfire Marks,
-
Supermarine Seafire (just carrier capable Spitfires),
-
Supermarine Spiteful (BR V, ultimate Spitfire),
-
Fairey Barracuda (BR I or II attacker)
Pure wishful-thinking bonus, because either prototype or already Premium content:
-
Production Centurion Mk I - BR V. WW2 prototypes were pre-production, thereby less armour, I will refer to the Japanese tech tree for this one, and the God damn single example modified Pershing in the Allied tech tree.
-
Sherman Firefly - Either the welded hull style to technicly be different from the Premium one (not my favourite option), or Premium version gets x2 RP-3 rockets added to it, so the standard version is free to be placed in the tech tree.

These rockets, being so few in numbers (only two), and so spaced out (from both each other and the tank itself), should not cause any chain reactions or lead to the tanks destruction if they are destroyed (could still kill nearby infantry I guess). This would be a pure upgrade for the Premium version, so that a standard one can be added to the tech tree. -
Matilda II - Already a Premium, but if the Premium one was perhaps upgraded into the Matilda Hedgehog, that would just be funny…

Just think about it, a heavy tank capable of roleplaying as a mortar as well (ca 200y range, actually less than mortars in game).
This is, again, just for the Commonwealth.
MAS 44, and give us a Free Fr*nch subfaction while they’re at it!
Based

classic mildly racist internet joke.
100% this.
Especially when the “new content” is just fakes, prototypes, captured weapons, etc.
The actual WW2 content is already so freaking diluted in this game.
You see ten Fedorov 1912s, Lewis Rifles, Hino Kimuros and Uragans before you see a single MP-40 which should be almost everywhere and on everyone in a WW2 game.
While they do sound cool, for me personally it’s painful to realize that we are now in Enlisted era where every map needs to be BR 1-5.
And BRs are all over the place regarding historical context. Not to mention also event and premium squads.
So regardless if we eventually get maps with names like France 1940, Poland, Manchuria, Khalkhin Gol, Karelia, Sicily, etc. – it will be just the name only.
Because what we’ll actually get will be Chinese soldiers at Dunkirk 1940, supported by Arab guys in robes, with Americans on M24 Chaffee, fighting against Italians with Volkssturm on Pumas.
(Unless we eventually get a proper deep rework of the 4x5 system but I don’t think we ever will)
The one produced from 1949?
January of 45*.
The MAS 49 is a later continued development.
Hm? Gun Jesus says no MAS 44 was produced before the end of WW2.
I know everyone has their own definition of “fake guns” but for me personally things that were not used in WW2 don’t belong in a WW2 game.
Sources differ, and Gun Jesus has been wrong on ocassion, he’s not actually the Messiah.
I would be genuinely interested in seeing a source evidencing that MAS 44 was used in WW2.
For the longest time I’ve been of the opinion that no combatant ever received MAS 44 in his hands in WW2.
By the way we could easily have Sherman Firefly in tech tree which is different from the premium:
@Veekay45 - Sicily would be kind of neat to have.
Then again there are so many WW2 locations that they still could add to the game, so - in my humble opinion - there is no shortage of possible new maps (and maps expansions) for the forseeable future, might be good if they concentrate on making those…
Moving the goalpost, we’ve gone from discussing production to combat history.
I don’t speak the language (conscious decision), someone with the capabilities and experience would have to go through it I guess, settle the matter. Otherwise, I’ll arrive at the same situations that I have with Italian shovels or a perticular sniper rifle I tried to research some time ago.
Oh…? I thought we had the cast-hull version as premium…? My bad, the welded one can stay premium then, I seem to remember it being less common anyway (also, not as good looking, IMO) Well, I don’t mind getting the cast-hull one in the tech tree then.
Though, still, I really like the RP-3 idea so still hoping for that to be added on to the current Premium (or, as a new Premium with the cast hull Sherman as a base).
Which goalposts?
My preference is not seeing stuff like T-44 in WW2 games because no T-44 was ever seen on any battlefield of WW2.
But if your sources mentioned MAS 44 production before the end of WW2, I would like to see those too.
Since you said Gun Jesus can be wrong on this, there must be counter evidence?
Probably from a more/equally reputable source than Ian?
Actual Sicily with proper factions and time appropriate weapons - yes, absolutely!
But “Sicily” in 1943 with Tiger 2, Meteor, Hyde AR, T20, Volkssturm vs Chinese boys – yeah idk about that.
Just the way i like it. I want more! I need more
