Do you think instead of nerfing select fire rifles like FG42 and AVT, buffing assault rifles even more would be better?
I think most agree that BR5 full power automatic select fire rifles uniquely make BR5 assaulters somewhat obsolete, unlike other BRs where they are absolute meta.
Now I personally dont think assault rifles are worse than select fire rifles in a direct comparison one by one, both weapon classes have their advantages - but this is actually the main issue to begin with, they are not supposed to be compared directly one by one because assault rifles are limited to assaulters, while select fire rifles can be spammed by troopers and turn utility squads like pioneers into assault squads.
No. Select fires need a nerf. I think the majority of ppl agree with that. Some ppl had an issue with the method of fixing. While I strongly disagree with their sentiment, I think we all agree that some compromise that still weakens the hold select fires have over br 4 and 5 is optimal. Not trying to over buff something that still won’t ever take the throne.

I was wondering what would happen if we generally increase assault rifle damage to 10 dmg,
technically a soldier needs to take 10 damage to get downed in one shot, unless he has the vitality perk - then he needs to take 13.5 damage to get downed in one shot - again unless he gets vitality + bonus survivability of paratroopers, flamers or soviet body armor → then you need 15 damage to down in one shot.
10 damage however would make assault rifles guaranteed instant kill in close range with two hits, because at 20 damage you dont get downed anymore but die right away (same reason why bolt actions instant kill in one hit instead of downing)
Majority of assault rifles are basically that dmg anyways. And regardless u can’t make a weapon that’s so much stronger than select fires that it’s worth ditching rifleman squads for. And u still run into the issues of br 4 getting no love.
I mean I guess you are right, BR5 probably doesn’t need more buffs, the difference between BR5 and BR4 in performance is huge.

Well I guess so, though this topic specifically was more about premium units getting effected by this change too much and some guns like M2 Carbine or Gorov not really being effected.
I would guess the change was too broad and didn’t consider many important details.

And tbh in My opinion this Automátic rifle meta is fault of the developers for not caring or playing enough attention to the meta now that most ppl is used to this well…
And lets be real more than half of the people who conplained are just BR1-3 enjoyers that either doesnt like the frenetism of the BR or have massive skill issue

So like pls read before u respond to something. This poll isn’t over the sentiment of select fires being nerfed (hell the poster even agreed they needed a nerf) it’s how they were nerfed.
The comment I said at the top of this is most ppl want select fires to be nerfed.

Ok. And since the devs agree with you I’ll work on seeing if we can reach a compromise that pleases everyone.
