Since Parrot is dead, lets speak about Soviet bias - that's what he would have wanted

Yes, criticism ahead - There are a couple of people on this forum I had difficulties discussing balance with.

Namely, Parrots, Dregomz, Mortarion_Death recently, but for the sake of keeping the peace I will say I still appreciate the thorough discussions we had so far.

→ precisely because even those have good ideas and bring out the nasty little details in balance that are easily overseen.

(In other words biased players try super hard to defend their own faction and digg out the smallest details to justify their biases)

I have been wrong OFTEN in the past, I had arguments with most players here and even I can be a burden to deal with (not as bad as adamnpee - he’s always sooo grumpy ;D ), but Parrots has been without a doubt the most intense, insane, annoying person on this forum so far and he was obviously biased (wastedwoodsman being his only rival) - and as such he has been digging out alot of small details about balance that people aren’t aware of.

That being said - I will not agree with him in a general sense, but I say that there is a certain amount of Soviet bias that is present in this game - even if he vastly overreacted all the time. (Outside of body armor of course - that stuff is outrageous)

I remember one specific thing he has been furious about, he even told me directly in Discord about it (yes I witnessed him directly, live and in person - what an experience…) he complained about the Gorov lmg to be completely OP because it has much much less damage drop off than all other rifles, which is unique to this gun BUT his bias was unable to understand that this gun has a terrible top mounted magazine and obscures vision like crazy.

You call it Soviet bias, I call it balancing out the incompetence of Soviet mains.

Yeah, bad sadly Soviet mains aren’t incompetent all the time. The past week Soviets in BR II have been crushing the Axis. I just wish there was a more even spread of competent players in all factions, that way we won’t have the terrible imbalances that are present.

I think it’s more an Axis thing, since I played a few matches of Allies and crushed them too.

This is a good description, and honestly the main issue.

I hate the idea of imbalances to help bad players - bad players need to lose, otherwise you cheat the good players of a victory.

So what is the solution to this? All good German players should get forced to only play Soviets?

If thats what it takes to achieve balance, Im all for it.

There’s difference between seal clubbing stacks and soviet mains.

BR2 is currently the most unhealthy BR in the game, totally ruined by smg powercreep. Many seal clubbers has taken advantage of it.

And this is my main reason to complain.

Biased stuff ( definitely mostly body armor ) helps good players much more than bad players.

Someone who has trouble dealing with AI wont be a match against a veteran no matter his gear - while at the same time a new player doesn’t have body armor to begin with - neither vitality or upgraded guns.

Body armor only serves stack and veterans - which is exactly what I want to fight against, but on a fair and even level.

In all seriousness, Parrot used to send me, shall we say somewhat distasteful pm’s when he didn’t like one of my suggestions. So, in the American way of dealing with it, I told him to "F**K OFF, which he did, after being told a couple times. :joy:

I’m a veteran and I don’t use vitality, body armour or even upgraded guns. I’m too poor most of the time being a F2P player, and I just feel armour and vitality are cheap mechanics that destroy gameplay.

I’m not poor, but I get a pension I have to live within every month, and it’s about half of what I got when I was still working before I retired. That, and the pretty girls are why I moved to the Philippines. :yum:

I feel like I should release the PMs he has sent me in the past, but I feel like PMs morally speaking should stay private.

Ngl outrageous and hilarious stuff, he literally told me to watch porn instead of arguing against a brick wall.

Yeah, I would never release the PM’s, but I don’t care if people know he wasn’t the most pleasant person when it came to messages.

The only thing that really causes a balance problem is the body armor, most of the other complaints are pointless. Yes, the Soviets have their strengths, but so do Germany, so I believe this Soviet bias is greatly exaggerated. All they need to do is remove the effect of all customization.

I remember us two having tons of disagreements in the past - I wonder what happened that we are agreeing so much nowadays?

I’ve had this opinion about body armor for several months.
And well, I’m never a soviet main and I’m a balanc fan, if you see me defending the Soviets on the forum, it’s just a reaction to those who like Germany to always win, people like Dregomz and of course the Parrot who was fortunately expelled. But Germany is where I play most of the time.
I hate German mains a lot, but I have no problem with the faction itself, the reason for my hatred is that they generally oppose any content for the Soviets and Americans and like to have one of everything. They generally write under half of the Soviet suggestions that the Soviets do not need new content, while this is the third faction in terms of weapon variety.

If an excellent tank is available in BR5, then this faction will be quite well-rounded. However, DF seems unwilling to make this happen.

Well its not like Soviet weapons are bad, they have excellent weapons and decent vehicles.
Why Soviets suck is the lack of rallies, Soviet mains never build rallies which I can hardly help.
Yesterday I played two matches with Soviets, one in BR2-3 as BR3 and our team got raped even though the Germans were very poorly equipped themselves being a mix of BR1-2 with 1 or 2 BR3 players. But they had many rallies and played the objective.
My teammates never built rallies and sniped.

Right after thatt I played a BR1-2 match as BR2 Soviets, same experience but there is one or two decent Soviet players, still no rallies so I had to cover that with my APC and by building a rally.
Poor Germans couldn’t even capture the first objective and this has been my experience as Soviets in BR1-2 matches for the past month.
I guess most soviet mains stack BR2 Soviets which is why they are doing usually poorly in everyother BR.

I dont think that just by nerfing or buffing Soviets would change this trend, IMO the real solution is adding a second faction to fight against Soviets.

Manchuria seems to be the popular choice for this, though Soviets vs Allies in Berlin would probably help way more.

How did I forget this? Yes, the Soviets should remove the body armor effect, and get the T44 100. The Germans should also buff the G41.

You have perfectly summarized what would parrot Say to this topic and always tried but he was Taken like crazy

Soviets we’re always full of imcompetent players i can prove 90% of times i have to work for the win while my teammates sit back there with snipers or trowing mortars into God knows where

Thats why he always called biased the soviets and americans because they always had good weapons able to hide the incompetence of their teams partially

Maybe You should look it into His eyes You know? He called that weapon biased because he knew that anyone who had a good eye would basically sent to Oblivion that “awful sigths disventage” if You look at it he Saw the things like if it was a competitive Game and no i know this Game is casual don’t need to repeat to me 100 times more yet it doesnt means that Even if is casual it should be unbalanced he Saw the Game like a place where the team with more skill wins and this it how it should be on every Game so basically the Best way to archive Game balance is to force those stupid players to learn how to play or go to cry at COD because in war the one who uses His tools more propelly is the one who wins is all strategy and i can confirm since i have some experience from competitive enlisted which be sure this Game have potential yet developers don’t wanna have a concept like it

Its gaijin. They define things as it suits them…Things wont change

In typical fashion on warthunder they just made Nato blowout panels not protect crew. Lolol
