I just wonder how many of the 360k+ bad guys I killed were digital war criminals? Am I am hero if I kill some guy with a silly name like Joe Stalin Get Movin. Hitler4socialism, LeMay BBQ Japan, etc etc. The joke is that it is WW2 themed 85 million dead, the worlds economies ruined, all kinds of chaos for decades yet here we are enjoying the game. There are literal SS units in the game, I am sure some of those Soviet squads were doing all kinds of terrible things in return for all the terrible things the Germans did. Or the Italians.

I think the main thrust of this thread, though, is what is considered dodgy, and to who(m)? I think current, modern slurs should probably be on the list, but what is the line, ultimately?
Personally my username is unrelated to anything, and my in-game callsign names are things like changing a soldier named “Sylvester” to “Sly,” and an attacker pilot in a grey colored uniform “Grey Death,” but there seem to be lots of people with real poor taste. I’ll assume most of them are edgy kids, because I don’t like the alternative.
Do you know in USA armor and many training courses they teach tactics by Rommel and others? I look at like this, history is history. You cant erase it because then you get into what offends everyone based on their feelings and will become no better than the monsters of WWII… Our nation bore the brunt of casualties because of Germany, several from our family but a name in a game does not offend me
There is a user name of “childpredator” that I see often , another was jewkiller, that makes me absolutely cringe but I dont report it … where would the line be drawn? The Swastika was part of the history but you cant wipe it out from a historical game or it is just a white washed history …
If it is that offensive to someone, they might as well go play pokeman or minecraft, you wont be offended there

Yeah, i recently picked up “Achtung Panzer!” By Heinz Guderian. It’s a fascinating read that is only about the future of mechanized warfare post WWI (analyzing especially losses in WWI and advocating for mechanized units), but someone could say that without his book/letters/intervention germany would have had basically no armor in WW2, and would have probably lost easily and early, saving millions of lives. But I don’t think it makes him a taboo name 
. So if someone was named HGuderian36 would that be a flaggable name?
Tbf I don’t know what his politics and involvement in WW2 were beyond being involved with armor. Maybe he was a true believer notse, but all i know is what’s in his pre-WWII book.

These I’m not offended by, I don’t think I’ve ever been offended in my life, but I think people with names like these shouldn’t be anonymous on the internet. Like masked notses in america, show your face, and if there are consequences, well that’s the price of your free speech, maybe.

This has to be the most hypocritical post I’ve read all year. You don’t like seeing offensive names in a game about war? Don’t you think there are more serious issues with the game? There’s a button above every player to report names; it’s not there just for show.
Not sure you know what hypocritical means, to be honest.
It might be an issue that is less critical to the future of the game than other issues, but nothing about it is hypocritical that i can see.
If you’re meaning hypocritical in the sense of “the point of the game is to kill people,” well, that’s done in-game via military engagement, against military targets, while most of the war criminals being referenced here are reviled not for their death count in military engagements, but for their warcrimes against civilians and non-combatant populations. So i just don’t see where the hypocrisy is.
