Starting with my first point, I don’t understand why the AI are the way they are. I’ve been programming for going on 10 years, and the way they made the AI doesn’t make sense. They are incredibly buggy. They will stand in place and be shot, they don’t listen to commands always, and the worst, they STAND ON TOP OF your fortifications as you build, blocking them. I have made more stable AI previously, not that the developers don’t work hard. Secondly, the HE rounds will hit an enemy in the head and explode but won’t kill the 20 people standing around them sometimes. Thirdly, the tanks need to have better traction and more flexibility. There are times when tanks get stuck on bushes, can’t climb a small hill, and get stuck in potholes the size of one solider. It is horrible to try and get unstuck on something like a bush and spend 5 minutes in the open getting blasted. Lastly, sandbags should be stackable two high as they are already pre-generated in the map like that. Also, other builder fortifications should be easier to place.
This is a combination of ping and also that *not all HE shells are created equal.
(I had this conversation with a guy the other day. Normandy tanks as my example: the 76mm HE shell from the Sherman, is not as powerful as the 76mm HOWITZER HE shell from the M8 Scott. Some tanks are designed around and balanced for dealing with other tanks, at the cost of blast radius on their HE. Meanwhile, tanks like the Scott do pretty poorly against other tanks, but the blast radius of their HE for use against infantry is massive.)
I’ve made suggestions in the past about making the shovel have the ability to raise the ground as well as lower it, with part of the purpose being to help tanks get unstuck. That would help the issue a bit at least. I do agree that there are plenty of bushes and trees that seem to be made out of concrete though.
I agree with you 100% and I’ve been pushing for that. They just recently removed the little bit of stacking we could do because of people using an exploit with the MG nest. They should have focused on fixing that specific part but allowing us to continue stacking sandbags. There are definitely plenty of spots where a tall sandbag wall is very necessary, not to mention building up around the sides of the MG nest to be viable and less likely for the gun to get hit and destroyed.
This is essentially the Point XD
I agree that not all HE shells are equal, but I’ve had guys stacked on a spawn point that are all together, and the HE explodes on their forehead and doesn’t kill them. If you’re talking realism, then they would all be blown to pieces or have deadly shrapnel wounds, yet they are full health. I agree with the raising dirt but the tanks also need to have suspension systems that can climb over things and not get stuck on the tiniest things. It just makes the game boring.
