Shorter building time for rally points (irrelevant to gameplay)

I suggest to decrease the time it takes to build rally points, bringing it on the same level as ammo crates.

It is a small change that would slightly improve QOL without actually affecting the gameplay in any way.

Currently it takes longer, more than 10 seconds, which apparently makes sense since rally points are arguably the best tactical support that an engineer can provide to the team. BUT, since in most cases (except when having multiple engineers in the team) players must build them manually, imo there’s no actual reason to force them to stare at a progress bar for so long, for the following reasons:

  • Rally points won’t generally be built too close to a contested area. Besides the minimum distance limit, squads are now unable to spawn both if enemies are nearby and also if there’s a fight going on, hence a rally point in a contested area will be grayed out most of the time.
  • Any players in their sense will make sure an area is clear before starting building.
  • The current building time is artificially shorter than reality anyway.
  • For the above reasons, it is highly infrequent that an engineer actually gets caught by enemies while building a rally.
  • Building time is not required to prevent spam, since there are other restrictions.

And last but not least, it takes LITTLE TO NO EFFORT for the enemy to destroy a rally point. Unlike stationary weapons, ANY slight damage will disable it. The J function is useless and redundant in this case, since a single bullet or melee attack will destroy a rally on the spot.

Given all of the above, I think that a longer time to build rally points serves no actual purpose other than wasting more of the player’s time, and therefore it could be shortened with no impact on the gameplay.

If there are two engies in team it’s possible to start building it and then give second engie order to finish it so time isn’t really issue. But if there is one engie in team , player don’t have this option and have to wait for the whole building animation to finish. It would be very nice if they included in squad commands order to build a rally so team engie bot could do it by himself.

There is also a perk to reduce building time.

Normal and premium squad can have 4 engineers. All you have to do is place the spawn point and press x into it. Your crew build it for you.

Screw it, I accidentally edited this post instead of typing a new one.

Ofc. It’s the tradeoff here.

I know it’s not a big deal, but since I put one engineer in every squad asap and use rallys as much as I can to boost XP, I’d still rather spend those 5 extra secs or so going to battle than staring at a circle, since actually there’s no point in those extra seconds.

(I haven’t got the quick build perk on any engineer yet, btw)

building time is ok as it is - imo

this one and the extra build resources are mandatory to have (50% speed reduction). but costs 14 speed points. its a late 4 star / 5 star one to have.
9 vitality to extra 40% resources. also a late perk.

That’s probably it then.

I’m saving my 4 star engineers to later use them as “academy fuel” to get 5 star engineers II.

i disagree, the time it’s somewhat the " price " that you have to pay in order to lay down something that potentially brings victory ( along side your AI man power ).

my main peeve is an ammo box thankfully you can place anywhere whereas a spawn it has to be just in the exact right spot just right nope red yal green nope ya blinked red find the green area this alone takes a lot of time.

That’s pretty ridiculous. Both teams would (in theory) simultaneously benefit from this and help incentive Engineers to build rally points more often.

that’s why,

both team should require time to place rally points.

otherwise matches would last much less longer than what they already last.

Despite all discussions about support roles and tactical advantages, people are here to shoot, not to build.

If you think current building times are OK, then fine, but don’t ask for them to be increased, or else way less people will bother.

when did i say that?

correction, i never did.
