Serious Question: TNT, Toolkits, Axes

Please keep this discussion on topic guys. Just answer the questions, leave a comment at the end if you wish, but don’t sit and debate on this thread please. I’m trying to collect information for suggestion posts and really don’t want to have to dig through a bunch of extra chatter. Thank you in advance.

This regards both the existing usage of these items as well as if they were changed in said ways.

1. TNT mines

1.1. How often do you use TNT mines?

1.2. How often do you see other players use TNT mines?

1.3. Do you use TNT mines for anything other than killing tanks?

1.4. IF TNT mines were changed to where you could set the trigger down somewhere to be activated later, would you use it more?

1.5. IF TNT mines were made to be able to more effectively clear fortifications, would you use them more often?

2. Toolkits

2.1. How often do you carry toolkits as infantry (non-tanker units)?

2.2. IF the ability to deconstruct fortifications by non-engineer infantry was changed to require toolkits, would you use backpacks instead of grenade pouches or ammo bags on more of your troops in order to carry more toolkits?

2.3. If the change mentioned above occurred, and engineers did not need to carry toolkits to break down structures, would it increase the value of engineers to you?

3. Axes

3.1. How often do you carry Axes?

3.2. How often do you see other players using Axes?

3.3. If axes were made to be able to remove things like trees, bushes, crates, etc, would it increase your usage of them?

1.1 I use the TNT mines on some of my engineers and most of my AT gunners.
1.2 Somewhat often.
1.3 I use them to sometimes set traps.
1.4 Perhaps, if more destructive environments were added (think Battlefield level destruction), though this is what AT mines and AP mines are for.
1.5 I usually run with explosive charges for this reasons, though maybe.
2.1 On some of my engineers.
2.2 No. I would use the explosives for this instead.
2.3 Not really. They are already of top-tier importance to me in every squad, so it would just add another use to the pile.
3.1 I use axes on the engineers that build HMGS and MG nests to clear debris.
3.2 Rarely.
3.3 Yes. It would allow me to create and clear larger fields of fire.

Only in Stalingrad and Pacific where they were given out for free.

Mostly just in Stalingrad and the Pacific.

Generally no.

Probably not.

Probably not.

Only on one of my motorcycle crew (in addition to three medkits), and it’s more of a larp because I’ve never used it.

I guess I would have to.

Yes.

Right now only on my more elite/specialty squads, but after the merge I plan to have enough total to equip every soldier with one.

Infrequently.

It wouldn’t effect how many that I use, but it would definitely give me more ways in which to use them.

1.1. How often do you use TNT mines?
Almost never, I usually forget they’re equipped until im out of demo packs to throw.

1.2. How often do you see other players use TNT mines?
I would’nt say it’s all that rare, I see guys dopping them on tanks often enough I guess.

1.3. Do you use TNT mines for anything other than killing tanks?
For sure I’ve used them for more often trapping objectives.

1.4. IF TNT mines were changed to where you could set the trigger down somewhere to be activated later, would you use it more?
I guess, it depends on how effective it would be. I could see it being useful when the placing soldier dies someone could finish the job.

1.5. IF TNT mines were made to be able to more effectively clear fortifications, would you use them more often?
For sure they would be real handy for the hedgehogs in dorrways mentioned.

2. Toolkits
2.1. How often do you carry toolkits as infantry (non-tanker units)?
Pretty rarely only when I’m messing around multicrewing tanks and forgetting to unequip them

2.2. IF the ability to deconstruct fortifications by non-engineer infantry was changed to require toolkits, would you use backpacks instead of grenade pouches or ammo bags on more of your troops in order to carry more toolkits?
Depends, if the tnt was able to do it, no. If it was the only way? Yeah I would have to carry some I suppose.

2.3. If the change mentioned above occurred, and engineers did not need to carry toolkits to break down structures, would it increase the value of engineers to you?
Yeah, but not much I’m biased in that they are already my favorite and most valued.

3. Axes
3.1. How often do you carry Axes?
Not often really, I’ve equipped a few but they are kind of overshadowed by swords and bayonets.

3.2. How often do you see other players using Axes?
Not often but I always get a laugh out of getting axe murdered or seeing someone swinging one around.

3.3. If axes were made to be able to remove things like trees, bushes, crates, etc, would it increase your usage of them?
Not by much really, I can only think of wanting to clear something blocking view of a mg nest, most other times I like that stuff for natural camo to my buildings.

pretty much every enginner that i have, uses tnts.

not many outside the pacific and stalingrad

yes, suicide multi kills when i’m the last soldier alive on the point. ( mostly in attack thought )

elaborate more

yes

all my engies carries toolboxes.

that’s an uncessesary nerf, therefore no.

i guess

since bayonets, not many.

not many, because of bayonettes.

yes

1.1 ever so rarely, i only give them to engineers or antitank troopers
1.2 rarely
1.3 once in a blue moon ill use them to camp a doorway or clear bags and wire
1.4 no
1.5 no
2.1 all my engineers have small bag/medkit/toolkit
2.2 absolutely yes
2.3 yes
3.1 melee in this game is pointless
3.2 never notice
3.3 maybe

1.1. Almost never. Det packs are better. But I know should use TNT more, cause I can carry it in addition to grenades and it doesn’t give the grenade warning indicator to enemies. (But I am a cheapskate and currently saving my orders for after the merge, so I barely have any TNT.)

1.2. Sometimes, when I’m killed inside a tank and I don’t know by what, killfeed reveals it was TNT. But not often.

1.3. NOPE.

1.4. Probably not.

1.5. Definitely yes.

2.1. Never.

2.2. No, but I might give a toolkit to those soldiers, who already do carry a backpack (assaulters and machine gunners).

2.3. No, but only because I couldn’t value engineers higher, than I already do.

3. Axes

3.1. I never bought any, just keep using the ones I received as randon drops.

3.2. Not so often. Only for charging.

3.3. I might give them to my tankers, but still not use them often.

I did equip TNT for engineers to blow things up like walls and trees, but they’re completely useless at doing that and only detpacks are able of causing destruction to objects.

I use toolkits on engineers only. Most of the time it’s only to help repair a friend as allied tankers usually fix themselves or simply die.

1. TNT mines

1.1. How often do you use TNT mines?
Very very rarely

1.2. How often do you see other players use TNT mines?
Times I’m aware of it… maybe once per 30 matches

1.3. Do you use TNT mines for anything other than killing tanks?
Not sure I ever even killed a tank with one

1.4. IF TNT mines were changed to where you could set the trigger down somewhere to be activated later, would you use it more?
I don’t really understand what you propose

1.5. IF TNT mines were made to be able to more effectively clear fortifications, would you use them more often?
I can’t picture them being more effective than explosive packs

2. Toolkits

2.1. How often do you carry toolkits as infantry (non-tanker units)?
Never once

2.2. IF the ability to deconstruct fortifications by non-engineer infantry was changed to require toolkits, would you use backpacks instead of grenade pouches or ammo bags on more of your troops in order to carry more toolkits?
I’m not sure but I would hate that change

2.3. If the change mentioned above occurred, and engineers did not need to carry toolkits to break down structures, would it increase the value of engineers to you?
See above

3. Axes

3.1. How often do you carry Axes?
I equip every soldier with an axe if I have the silver. I have all campaigns and factions ground out except Moscow axis so… I still need a lot more but have a LOT of axes.

3.2. How often do you see other players using Axes?
More often than TNT. A fair amount.

3.3. If axes were made to be able to remove things like trees, bushes, crates, etc, would it increase your usage of them?
No. They are strong melee weapons and the charge ability is huge. If that were removed I’d be annoyed I’d spent so much silver but I do enjoy getting 8 - 10 melee kills with an axe.
