Semi-Automatic Rifle Damage Overhaul

“Just like the relationship between bolt-action rifles and semi-automatic rifles at BR 2 with equal magazine capacities, one option has stopping power while the other fires faster, and this would be mirrored if we had theoretical semi-automatic rifles at the same battle rating as select-fires.”

A 22 damage rifle that fires at 350-420 RPM is going to have advantages and disadvantages compared to a select-fire that deals 15.3 damage at 660-990 RPM. Just like how a Winchester M1895 and Fedorov M1912 are both viable picks for similar reasons, just in the context of BR 2.

I like that bolt action rifles uniquely instant kill in one shot, while semi autos only down in one shot.

The problem however has always been that some semis only down up close and some dont reliably.

Increasing all full power rifle semis damage to at least 15 should be logical, because there are some units with 15 HP.

We definitely could consider buffing the damage of some semis to give them better one hit down power at ranges - but no semi should ever have over 20 damage, because that’s the damage break point for instant one hit kills, which should uniquely be reserved for bolt action rifles.

Also regarding the backlash against SFR nerfs - I personally like that those BR5 rifles still down in one shot, it creates this unique battle rifle style gameplay. I absolutely appreciate the recoil increase, nerfing damage or accuracy would turn them into just assault rifles for troopers, while keeping accuracy and damage but introducing heavy recoil forces people to shoot in bursts - or predominantly use them in semi auto (as those guns actually were used in the real world).

I think a overall damage per BR of weapons look over is needed. Even if it’s just slightly changed to be better then it is, a few weapons could benefit and become worth it’s place in the BR it’s in.

No, there’s no misunderstanding. It’s just that randomly adjusting weapon parameters like this completely destroys the game balance. Bolt-action rifles in low-ranked matches won’t kill anyone, while fully automatic rifles in high-ranked matches will instantly kill all other weapons. This is extremely unfair.

I don’t want to change bolt action rifles.

You adjustments benefit semi-automatic rifles with low-weight matchmaking, while putting bolt-action rifles at a complete disadvantage. You need to understand that the development of things is gradual. If automatic rifles cannot adapt to the development of the times, they will be eliminated by the historical process. Otherwise, why do riflemen in modern countries carry fully automatic assault rifles instead of automatic rifles that use full-power ammunition and have high recoil?

Br 2: 14 damage
Br 3: 15 damage
Br 4: 16.5 damage
Br 5: 22 damage

Ppl who claim semi autos are weak do not have an understanding of the potential of them. They are pretty much a full upgrade with proper trigger and recoil control. However. I will say br 2 is a balance mess and br 4 is too weak. So I’d like to see those rebalance. Federov 1912 and similar weapons are too op and br 4 semi autos are not enough of a step up
