Seeking “Vintage Arsenal” event weapon opinions

Does anyone have a take on the three available subguns? I mean, is one of them enough of an upgrade over what’s otherwise available for its respective faction at that BR to warrant spending all the orders on them?

I don’t have any of them, so I don’t know the intangibles, but by the stat cards the Suomi seems pretty close the tech tree BRII Beretta, and the BSA Tommy gun seems very similar to its tech tree counterpart. If anything, the Soviet offering even seems like it might not be as good as a PPS-43.

Please share your thoughts. Thank you!

Before the event, I already had four of the Suomi KP/-26’s and four of the BSA Thompson’s. So, I used my first two weapons orders to get my fifth of each. IMOP, the Suomi KP is one of the best German SMG’s you can get at BR2, so it is a definite get.

On the BSA Model 1929 Thompson? Your call. I bought the original four before you could get the M1A1 Thompson’s at BR2, so it made sense. However, is the 60 rate of fire increase the BSA has over the M1A1 worth the 10 rounds less ammo your magazine holds?

Soviet PDM-42. Other then it being somewhat unique, I see no benefit to taking it as IMOP the PPS-43 is better and is no improvement over the PPS-42. So, other then uniqueness, I see no reason to use a weapons order for it.

For me, the Suomi and BSA were the best two options, and if I get my third weapons order, I will probably take another Suomi, which would give me six total. Hell, you couldn’t go wrong taking three Suomi’s. :joy:

The suomi is only worth it if you don’t have any of the other premmy/gold older/event guns that are better than it, such as the mas 38. If you’ve only got basic tech tree guns for germany, they are well worth it.

The thompson is okay as spooge said, but the usmc premmy thompson squad is by far better. I think you can go without these even if you’re only with basic tree guns.

The russian gun is a straight side grade to the pps42. Can go without.

Swords in general are the most rare items of the game. They worth getting if you don’t need anything else. Have been playing over 2 years and i only have 7 or 8 swords for u.s., 4 or 5 for germany, and a 2 or 3 for russia. However in recent times we’ve been getting lots of melee alternatives with higher sprint speeds than basic hatchets.

In conclusion, the suomi is the best gun of the bunch to get, but if it’s not needed grab the swords

Those weapons you get from the Arsenal were viable once. Back then, map limitations and a lack of competing firearms kept them competitive. But after buffs to guns like the PPS-43 and Japanese submachine guns, the two Soviet and American battle pass weapons have fallen into third-tier status; their performance is barely relevant now.

The Suomi is a solid option among Germany’s weak BR2 submachine guns. Even so, Germany’s BR2 roster as a whole still lacks firepower. It hardly feels worthwhile to unlock it solely for one decent German BR2 SMG, especially when you constantly face swarms of PPS-42 and PPS-43 wielded by opponents.

In the end, the melee sword is still the most rewarding pick. It offers the best sprint bonuses and movement perks out of everything.

the Suomi KP-26 is a very reliable BR2 weapon, even capable of being at BR3. Really heavy hitting and handles like a dream

The BSA Model 1929 Thompson - also a great SMG for BR2, reliable and handles well

However, if you are intending on using the event rewards for anything other than the swords, you are dreadfully mistaken sir! Get yourself swords!!

It really depends on who you main. The PDM-42 is hot garbage—it’s worse than the PPS-42 in every single way. The BSA isn’t worth the gold order ticket in my opinion, but if you’re a US main, go for it. The Suomi is just a comfortable gun, basically the German equivalent of the PPS-42, with a decent fire rate, good spread, and slightly higher damage. Personally, I’m picking the Suomi just to have 8 of them in total, though I did consider the sabers. They give a +150% charge bonus, while the axe gives +100%. For an engineer, that’s the best investment.

It would’ve been better if the devs gave us a choice between: the MP 35 for Germany at BR 2, the Bezruchko-Vysotsky for the USSR at BR 2, and for the US, either the BSA or the Thompson .30 at BR 3. I just can’t remember what other interesting gun there is for US BR 2.

US BR2 has an even worse meta than Germany’s BR2. German units can rely on numbers to beat veteran Soviet BR3 players.
Victory is always a tough slog for America no matter the match trend, owing to the shortage of good SMGs and average infantry stats, putting them at a disadvantage against Japanese troops.
Devs keep cycling three mediocre weapons including MP41 for events instead of introducing better options like MP35, mimicking battle pass rotations.
Only the Japanese anti-tank equipment matters in this event, the rest are filler rewards. Meanwhile blue card acquisition has become harder now.
