2nd attempt asking for the devs to look at plane damage across all campaigns and the air war in general. @1942786 are we ever going to get an answer on where the devs stand with this? Just so I quit bugging you guys.
Plane damage stinks
Planes soak up way to much ammo across all campaigns (unless your flying BF110 with 37mm)
#1 and #2 keeps us as players on making any impact on ai bomber formations in Stalingrad.
We players would like to see the air war have a meaningful impact.
I recently unlocked the airplanes at level 4-5? And I tried using them in dog fighting a bit and I am back to tanks. I will not ever touch planes again. The amount of ammo it takes to kill planes is absolutely insane. I’ve never seen anything like it. Playing patient to get the perfect drop on the enemy doesn’t even pay off. It’s ridiculous.
Not sure how low ping players’ plane behaves, from my personal experience of average 150ping, some planes can eat all my 20mm even 30mm ammo without any identifiable damage. All I get are white crosses.
I dont know about this to be honest. I never have any issues of shooting down enemy aircrafts. I always aim BEFORE the circle and if I am near, I aim for critical parts, mostly the engines or wings.
Just note: I would never chase an enemy aircraft until it is really hitting the ground. The amount of XP given is just too low.
Problem is we shouldn’t have to fly planes with crazy amounts of firepower to kill enemy air. 20mm and other calibers should work. Try flying a 109F4 and shoot down a enemy air,
I’ve been playing with the P-51C-10 for the allies in the Normandy campaign since it’s the only vehicle class I have unlocked that isn’t max level. It’s pretty good at taking down late game German planes even though it only has a 12.7mm gun.
I’ll admit sometimes it takes most of my ammo to take down a plane, but the majority of the time it only takes a few bursts to a cockpit or engine to get the kill credit.
I want my little xray damage window like with the tanks though.
In essence, there are 2 types of aircraft weapons in this game:
Machine guns and 30-37mm cannons.
7.92mm machine gun, 12.7 Browning, 20mm German auto cannons - doesn’t matter.
The more the better. 6-8 Brownings tear German planes to shreds, but a couple of machine guns and 1 20mm cannon on the 109 G-6 works much worse.
FW-190 with 4!!! 20mm cannons should destroy any plane in a couple of seconds, but no, sometimes you have to hit a lot of times.
The 30-37mm cannons can sometimes destroy an enemy plane in a few hits, and sometimes do no damage.
I agree, but there’s still just something so satisfying about hitting a P38 with a 37mm and watching it come apart like a lego someone dropped on the floor.
