When you kill an enemy, you can find their primary weapon on the ground and pick it up, refilling it from an enemy ammo box.
However, I wonder if we couldn’t take things up a bit more.
I propose being able to search fallen enemy soldiers, being able to pick up ammo, any grenades the player has equipped*, a sidearm if equipped, and such**. I think this would make an excellent addition, particularly to go along with the new saboteur class.
I sort of got the idea from Call to Arms: Gates of Hell, so if you know you know.
*if they’ve already used theirs, there won’t be one to pick up // if they have any of the bags/pouches and extra grenades equipped, then there’ll be two or three rather than the one.
** I think anything more than that would be crossing over too much into the Sabeteur’s area, but I also note that allowing sabeteurs to pick up additional gear (Mines? Secondary weapons? Satchels/bags?) could help distinguish the class more if this was added.

this was something i was thinking would make a fun change for partisains allowing you to search specialists to steal their weapons

Great idea, that way I could recover AT weapons from my fallen soldiers.
Looting was a thing back in WW2, the Americans searched pistols from fallen soldiers and officers and Guntos from the Japanese, and the brits used to search 9mm bullets for their stens, since their weapons were compatible with German ammo

Yes to everything but grenades 36 grenades for one squad is already to many that is big ammo pack and nine man rifle squad, no I don’t care how many grenades life buttsniffer carried he didn’t squad wipe and respawn with a squad with another 36 nades
Thats fair — particularly with the new off-road vehicles’ grenade boxes. (I wrote this idea before the update was a thing)

believe it or not, used to be a feature.
( but in the pre-pre alpha )
roughly 7 to 9 years ago.
much like Cuisine royale / CRSED you were able to loot enemies and manage your inventory.
particularly useful if you wanted to manage your inv on the fly.
but, for one reason or another, it was removed.
( it will be back in modding though, with project andromeda of Dularom )

Thank you for your post, I agree.
And as others have said AT weapons generally, especially for fallen comrades (Eg own squad).
Like if anything the most likely weapon to be picked up from a deceased soldier is an AT weapon (that’s literally how the Soviets got all those Panzerfausts).
It’s also true pistols were especially common as trophies or extra weapon.
May need a different post but Id further question why weapons picked up from the ground always have minimal ammo?
This is particularly annoying when its my own squad like Im using a Thompson for example, and lets say I had four mags (120 rounds), that soldier gets shot, but when his mate picks up his gun its only got a single mag left. That to me is wrong and ought to be changed.
IMO weapons picked up should have how much was left not this weird only 5 rounds left nonsense (and if they think an enemy LMG or SMG with full ammo is OP well we can just refill from enemy ammo box so its not like its impossible either)
