Sometimes I see a small bubble beside someone’s name with a number in it. What is that?
Premade squads.

Yeah its squad members in lone fighters. If you click on them after a death you are able to respawn on them as long as they are not in combat, pretty much the same system as battlefield.
Also I think that is the 3 other players with whom you can voice chat in-game. (At least it was so some months ago.)
