now that the dust has settled, and it’s safe to assume that it’s a rather controversial class, ( which i could be wrong, but only a small % likes them. me included actually ).
personally, i kinda like it as it’s own thing with a dedicated gamemode to it.
sort of as an event for PVE. but since this game is PVP.
i’ll try to address them for it.
here are my improvements:
( of course, everyone is more than welcome to chime in and help to improve it.
… that isn’t just " delete them " which… i mean, i understand. but we try to make things better here.
1) Fix the “squad” type
for some reason, this squad is considered both an event and premium squad at the same time. And it forces players to place these squads at the bottom. with no ability to move them elsewhere or reserve the last two slots for something else rater than being forced to place saboteurs there:

2) give disguised players blue triangle on the opponent’s view
imo, while this class is of niche, the whole point of the class should be to be disguised.
what’s of any use beside not getting shot by bots while everyone else can see just another enemy soldier dressed up as a friendly to be eliminated?
honestly, you can put 2 with 2 together and figure out that a soldier following another squad dressed up differently and/or being alone coming from the enemy direction even if has a blue marker most likely is a saboteur.
it kinda negates the " guessing " game by just not having the blue marker and be done with it in one bullet.

3) Make Saboteurs when disguised, unable to capture the point
similar to vehicles on objectives.
the saboteur should not be able to capture the point when he is disguised.
it’s kinda a bit of a give away and imo, a bit dumb. i’d say, perhaps, even remove them the ability to capture at all. since it’s not their role. or do so only if your disguise is compromised / have no disguse at all.

4) let the saboteurs use any type of weapons
realistically, 1 guy with any type of weapon, what harm could it do?
perhaps my only exception would be, no special weapons. such as flamethrowers, grenade launchers etc. i really hate the fact that, most tunics have semi auto pouches or assault rifles ones, yet they can’t use none of that.
speaking of appearance, albe it not essentiall since their whole stick is to disguise,

5) Let players be able to change the nationality of the soldier
Imo, it would be cool to let players be able to swap the saboteur nationality.
for example,
Western Axis powers: German > Italian
Western Allies: British > French > American
Eastern Allies: Ussr > Chinese
… japan would remain the same for obv reasons.
but even historically, for example, the abewher did used military iternees ( which some were italians ).
the us had OSS units, the british had SOEs, the Stavka had some asian informers and so on and on.
but all to provide more choices.

6) let the saboteur wear more type of uniforms
for example, more volkssturm appearance, more paratroopers appearances, and have access to other nations uniforms to match the nationality ( IE. italians starter uniforms, etc )
but goes for any factions really. as long it can match the nation the soldier represent.

7) Saboteur should get more spare ammo from dead bodies like guerillas
aka, much like guerillas, should obtain more ammo when picking up a gun next to a deceased body

Consideration
now, there is a valid argument for Lone fighter custom games, and how this could potentially be harmful since, you have soldiers of all nationalities fighting for both teams, and agaisnt it.
making it impossible to disgusting who is who if the saboteurs have a blue triangle.
but truth be told, i don’t have a solution for that.
maybe… that’s the point of saboteur though?
i mean, faces are a dead giveaway i suppose.
but perhaps face-recognition may not be enough on it’s own.
