Saboteur rework suggestions. (Guerilla and Rider/Paratrooper hybrid)

  • Yes, make them a rider/guerilla hybrid
  • Yes, make them a paratrooper/guerilla hybrid
  • No, keep saboteurs unchanged

As it stands, there are numerous fundamental flaws with the saboteur class. The lack of friendly fire means checking for disguised players has no downside. Saboteur squads possessing 1 singular soldier goes against Enlisted’s identity as a SQUAD BASED SHOOTER. Their captured guns are only going to fit in against 1 of the 2 potential factions they might battle.

The list goes on, this class is fundamentally flawed and needs to be totally and utterly redesigned.

I have two proposals for this.

GUERILLA/RIDER HYBRID

My first proposal is to rework saboteurs into a 3-man squad that is able to spawn with unarmed motorbikes. They will still possess all of the benefits of the current guerilla squad. This would allow saboteurs to be an alternative to guerillas that sacrifices squad size in exchange for the ability to make deep flanks in much less time.

GUERILLA/PARATROOPER HYBRID

My second proposal is make Saboteurs a 3 man squad and allow them to drop from paratrooper planes even into the enemy greyzone. They WOULD NOT have a paratrooper supply box to prevent people from spamming AT launchers, sniper rifles, etc from within the greyzone. Instead, they would drop like normal paratroopers and have the guerilla supply bag to recover ammo from dropped weapons and carry extra TNT. They should be equipped with paratrooper uniforms.

Enlisted is a squad based shooter. Lone-wolf solo playstyles are not this game’s identity. I believe reworking Saboteurs into being a hybrid between guerillas and either riders or paratroopers would make them interesting as a more risky alternative to guerillas that are capable of infiltrating the enemy lines much more effectively at the drawback of being a smaller squad.

A couple points

First, I definitely think Sab should have more than 1 soldier because it goes against the entire point of this game (unless we count Lone Fighters). I say 3-5

Second, I have thought they could give Paratroopers the ability to drop into the gray zone since that is literally their job. Although they are different from the inherent role of Sab.

paratroopers dropping into the grey zone with their supply box to equip AT launchers, snipers, an engineer hammer, etc would be really, really, really annoying to deal with

I think adding a little more heat under the game’s butt isn’t a bad thing. The trade off is Paratroopers are very vulnerable, probably more vulnerable than even Guerilla because at least they can sneak on the ground and go unnoticed. But Para planes make noise and everyone can see and hear them plus they’re helpless in the air. Already Paras are easily wiped when someone notices them. They would basically have the same greyzone constraints as Guerilla, they can go in but not super far in. It should keep every player on their toes

This matter has been wrong for a long time.
The guerrilla forces should be able to establish their positions and launch operations within the enemy’s black zone.
The paratrooper team should be able to conduct parachute drops and carry out operations within the enemy’s black zone. These are all matters that are taken for granted.
Currently, this “destroyer” is a combination of many previous occupations. Even the developers don’t know how to integrate them.

It doesn’t work like that. At best, a motorcycle helps you reach the nearest bump, where it’ll just be abandoned. Motorcycles are useless on 80% of the maps.

These are just regular paratroopers whose crate was lost or destroyed for some reason, not a separate class. And regular paratroopers should also have the ability to drop into the gray zone, because they suffer greatly from gray zones that cover them immediately after landing. Just make it so the crate gets destroyed if it’s in the gray zone.

I think they should just rework it entirely and give those features to the current partisan squads to make them stronger.
This class is conflicting with partisans way more than even glider paratroopers vs regular paratroopers.
