Russian Faction Getting Biased Treatment? Premium Squads able to change Main Weapons

i just noticed that some russian premium squad can change weapons while the other factions cannot.

The 78th Separate Engineer Battalion is not a premium squad.

It’s an assault engineer squad, which was given out in an event to compensate for Stalingrad players.
The german, japanese and us versions of this squad also received the ability to change their weapons.

The Soviet paras also get this feature because devs couldn’t be troubled to make an exclusive squad weapon.

All event assault engineer squads in all factions can change weapons…

But I agree with the paratroopers, premium if not just ALL paratroopers in every faction should be allowed to switch weapons

Whatever.

But we should finally get tech tree paratroopers. I still can’t comprehend the fact we got tech tree guerillas before paratroopers.

I would prefer that these units have their own unique weapons, so this is not a positive bias, but a negative one, as the units do not have any collectible value (from my perspective) due to the lack of unique weapons.

They arent unique in that sense but universal which is great

it’s not cool for someone who wants to collect rare guns

If the Soviet-style body armor is removed,
So would the Japanese offer “swords that could be purchased with silver coins” to the Soviet Union?
Will the Germans share the double-layered bulletproof helmet decoration of theirs with other factions?
Would the Soviet Union also obtain the captured Tiger tanks? In history, there were cases where captured Tiger tanks were used by the Soviets.
Will the Americans, like in history, move their capital and provide assistance to the Soviet Union, so that each player can gain more benefits when choosing to join the battle with the Soviet side compared to the other three factions?

So why not allow each faction to have its own unique special silver coins ,or functional decorative items instead?

No, it’s because at the time of their release all other nations besides maybe japan which who cares had paras at all BRs… so as a cop out they just let you change them

all nations have these kind of engineers!

unfortunately i dont have those squads :frowning:

That is not fault of the game and doesn’t count to USSR getting “special treatment” in that case.

I agree in case of their paratroopers which can switch the weapons and I also agree with their body armor (or from the german combat engineer event squad the extra protection from the helmets). The body armor and the helmet should only be cosmetic. Japan and US / UK have none of these if I remember correctly and but that discussing runs for years without change

That makes sense. Every nation has its own distinctive features. The Soviet plate armor is just the most widely used, which is why it draws so much attention.
As a result, unique setups from other factions, such as Japanese body armor and the historically unavailable Tiger tank that Japan couldn’t actually acquire, have been largely overlooked.
Katana were precious weapons in this steel-scarce island nation. They were supposed to be exclusive to squad leaders and officers as symbols of status. Yet in the game, Japanese troops carry them everywhere. Players of other nations have to grind through events just to obtain such long blades.

Maybe Is it because Soviet paratroopers were far less renowned than their Japanese counterparts historically, so there are few unique paratrooper weapons available for Soviet troops in the game? Germany even had the dedicated FG 42 paratrooper machine gun. Large-scale Soviet airborne operations in history mostly ended in disasters similar to Operation Market Garden.

Atleast this is what i was told and it makes sense

That’s exactly what I was told, they were the last faction to get paras. So they took the two squads they had and let them switch the weapons. Everybody else had at least 2-3 if not more. Since we only had the two squads for the Russians, they allowed them to swap weapons. It’s more of a cop-out than anything else, and that goes to show that they’re resistant on extending those features to every paratrooper Squad in the game. That right there makes the already outright refusal to add paratroopers into the tech tree hurt even more. It’s strictly an event/paid only mechanic, and if you miss the event, you’re out of luck for a while.

It’s unfortunate because they wanted to get lazy with the Russian paras to some degree, but we can’t know if that’s the full exact reason. Nightmare to find proper equipment and keep it balanced. either way they’re the only faction that can do this, other than the assault engineers from each Nation.

Not the only event squad

First Russian paratroopers got the ability to change their guns you got an event and prem for it upsides you can have any br downsides no more paratroopers for the faction

Assault engineers was given to everyone not Soviets gr and Soviets got it later on Jp and US got it too

They got an AT squad you can change their primary with Germany but it’s a br1 AT rifle as the AT weapons

And Halloween event with a Radio operator event that can do the same but one you can actually change the line up for the squad
