I wrote a whole essay on how conquest mode should be changed, but then I saw the latest Halloween event and just deleted it. Events just keep getting worse, and it made me want to look back and see what Enlisted has actually changed this year. That’s the reason I’m making this post.
Mar. “Hidden Threat”
This update brings us the Saboteur, a highly controversial new class. I won’t dwell on it, but come on… they released a solo-squad class in a game that’s full of artillery fire. I remember the first time I took it into a match: I spawned in, got blown up by artillery immediately, and never touched it again. If you look at past new classes like the Paratroopers or Partisans, you can see the Saboteur is the perfect example of something that sounds cool/unique, but ends up being completely useless.
Graphics optimization still hasn’t fixed the experience for low-end players. Frame drops happen with every update. And then there’s ray tracing. I’m pretty sure players would rather have a better vaulting system . Think about all those windows and fences you can never get over.
Sound mods got disabled after this update, and they still haven’t been completely fixed.
The WWI mode is a pretty fresh idea. The atmosphere is fantastic and super immersive, and all the new models and maps give modders plenty of material to work with. That said, you do get players camping at spawn points and calling in artillery to farm kills. Because of that my only goal in this event is to finish the missions, grab the rewards as fast as I can, and get out.
Jun. “Operation Neptune”
Added AA vehicles, new animations, and a bomb sight system, which are all great. But then it’s the same graphics improvements and ray tracing optimization. Why can’t they spend those resources on improving the AI logic instead?
The Suomi (SJR) finally gave Germany its first BR 5 tech tree SMG, yet the new Nashorn is still stuck at BR 4.
My first impressions of the new Omaha map weren’t good. The fog is so thick you can barely see enemies, and I spotted assets from other maps. Feels like a straight up copy paste job.
Players can now buy unique uniforms. But of course with this company that means using Military Pay. You can also drop 299 Military Pay on a gacha for squads and weapons, but odds are you’ll just end up with a pile of clothes. And with no pity system, good luck getting what you actually want.
Sep. “Off-road Patrol”
They gave us a new vehicle: the Jeep. Yep, after players waited more than three months for an update, this is the peak of Gaijin/Darkflow’s efforts, and it’s being pushed as the main highlight of the patch.
Sure some might find the Jeep fun, but that’s assuming you already have a complete lineup and can spare a slot for a meme squad. But what about new players? They don’t have the extra slots to bring an opentop vehicle. Server crashes almost every month, along with half-hearted compensation from the devs. And on top of that, with this year’s awful Halloween event, I genuinely don’t see anything that would draw new players in.
In three whole months, they only made a BR adjustment to a single vehicle: the Sherman 105. Just look at the BR section and you’ll see how many vehicles and weapons need adjustments.
GTA 6 is coming out next month. Only the developers know what percentage of Enlisted’s player base uses a controller, but there’s bound to be a massive player exodus. What are you going to do to keep players around? Your company knows how to make money better than anyone. Don’t you understand the logic of ‘fobbing players off → losing player trust → players stop spending money’?
Other games attitude toward GTA 6’s release.
What I hope to see in the Nov. update:
- Generous online rewards ( Especially for PS players)
- New BR changes
- More Blue Order events
- Yes
- No
- Don’t care
