Restrict select fire rifles to regular troopers?

With the introduction of more and more powerful select fire rifles (like the latest Hei) the line between assaulters and everyone else is getting more and more blurry on high BR. But it also leads into a completely different problem - regular troopers feel kinda pointless.

Why take a trooper? Literally any specialist will be better after BR 3. They can use the same top-notch select fire weapons and then have their own special function. Rifle grenades will not really make up the gap.

So I’m just spitballing here: what if we restrict the select fire weapons to troopers? That way there’s at least a benefit that they bring in high BR over a specialist. This way having troopers in your squad would enable you to tune a specialist squad more towards firepower and giving a benefit from choosing them over a specialist.

Could be a good way to clear some of the blurred lines we are having especially in late game.

Maybe go the more historical route. Almost any soldier in the US gets to use almost any weapon, and everyone else gets to use either Bolties, LMG’s, and SMG’s according to how prevalent they were in squads

I think the regular 9man inf squad has always been rather useless, for short period of time while the noobtubes were a thing they were actually “useful”.

One could argue that in current terms you could wield 9 FG42’s for example instead of say engineer squad of 5 - 6 ?
But tbh cant really remember a single situation when having more inf would have been more beneficial than having smaller squad with special abilities such as engineer.

Nor cant really think of anyway to make inf squads more relevant without nerfing the others and im not much of fan nerfing others.

I will still use Tokyo Armory
Because he can spray 20 bullets per second
And very easy to control

No other restrictions. Never anything. Calling for restrictions ruined this game. They should ban the word “restrict” or “nerf” on this forum.

THE FG-42 should not even be an “trooper” gun. it was meant to fill the role of the BAR or maybe the ZB-26 and be light/small enough to paradrop with infantry.

the M2 carbine should be classed as equivalent to the STG-44/mp-43/etc.

nor avs, avt and quadrubble thrillion other guns. But it is what it is.

Quite sure it is ingame. IRL carbine was invented for support troops.

the AVS and AVT full auto should basically be uncontrollable in anything but “I’m literally arms length from your chest/head” range and you should shoot them long before they get near that…

yep the M1 carbine… the M2 carbine was a development on it that recognized that there was a use
