Restore Shotguns

Restore shotguns and give them to engineers and stop deleting threads

Why did the last thread get deleted, anyhow? I don’t know if I missed a message, but my last post was going over the IRL performance of shotguns based on testing, and I’m pretty sure I got two replies to, but never got to see what they were by the time when I got off work, as the thread was deleted sometime between my last break and then.

But yes, shotguns should be made to act like they do IRL, with a much tighter spread and longer effective range than they have in game right now.

They’re supposed to be firing buckshot, after all.

Edit; and to restate it in short how shotguns should perform based on how they do IRL;
Based on eight or nine studies that I’ve read, 0 or 00 buckshot pellets should have a 33-50% hit ratio within a 1 meter circle at 50 meters, and still have ~2/3rds of their muzzle energy at that distance, assuming you’re firing from a smoothbore.

The break action shotguns should have 15 pellets (3" shell), and the M1912 pump action should have 9 pellets (2.75" shell) per shotgun shell, assuming 00 buckshot.

Damage per pellet at all ranges should be about the same as a .380 ACP pistol round, which judging by the pistols in game, should translate to something like 5.0-5.2 damage per pellet at the muzzle, then around 1.8-2.2 damage at 100m? Given in-game we don’t have anything in .380, unless for some reason the Walthers are chambered for it instead of .32 ACP.

No, idea, I got 6 reply notifications clicked on them and the thread was gone

breech loaded/pump action doesn’t determine if a shotgun can use 3" magnums or not if that’s what you’re implying. simply a matter of the chamber being the right size for it and capable of holding the pressure. tbh i wouldnt doubt the pump action being loaded with 3" magnums

that aside though i wouldn’t mind seeing a bit of a buff to the dmg of the current amount of shot which iirc is 9 or revert back to the 24 shot it had before to make hit probability a bit better.

I wouldn’t mind stronger shotguns, if only to be able to scream “say hello to my boomstick!” Like before the nerf

Also, yes it’s weird the thread was deleted, seems like it was only yesterday??? I was discussing in it as well…

were shotguns even used at ww2? KEKW sure there were some but for the memes

The German double barrel one was specifically commissioned by Goering to be issued to Luftwaffe personel

Yes the US Used shotguns. Pump action. Some GI’s did sawed off shotguns for trench clearing actions.
I myself have used the double barreled shot gun at point blank ( less then 2m ( or 7 feet) and did no damage. I fired 5 shots no damage. Switched to a SMG and killed everything.
I do not even equip my shotguns atm.

I am very much aware. I don’t know what the soviet break action is, (it’s hard to find much at all on the TOZ-B off google) but the drilling did have a 3" chamber to my knowledge, so for the sake of lack of knowing exacts, it’d make sense to carry over the shell type for the soviets as well. Meanwhile, the WW2 era M1912 was chambered for 2.75" shells, so…

We don’t have that many shotguns in game at the moment, so it was easier for me to categorize them as I did.

They were, especially by the USA, but the Germans did give the Drilling for pilots to use if they were downed in their aircraft, and was used on occasion by other German troops.

No idea about the TOZ-B though.

Would be nice to see the shotguns on the engineer class actually also yes please it would be nice to restore the shotguns to what they were before the unnecessary nerf as they don’t feel as deadly as they used to be.

Besides in a game like enlisted where all the weapons are easy to kill with and with them all feeling rather deadly is there any point in the shotguns being as bad they are currently are ?

Perhaps just revert the shotgun nerf altogether please ?

Rather sad to see guns getting nerfed to the point of them being unusable like so many other games do, please don’t end up like other games and do this.
