I have finally discovered why defense on Invasion is almost always a guaranteed loss, while offense is almost always a guaranteed win. After observing numerous replays of Invasion matches, I discovered that the 8/10 chance of steamrolling the defenders is because their squads continue to get smaller and smaller until they only have a few soldiers left to defend the point.
I’ve noticed this pattern on defense: My team starts killing the invaders repeatedly while they slowly thin our squads down from the common maximum of 7 to 9 soldiers to a mere 1 to 3 soldiers. Once this happens, the invading team, which always has fresher squads, easily storms the point, and there is nothing we can do.
And this translates perfectly to offense: My team will receive a bit of pushback at first, but after as little as one respawn, we storm the point, and there are only about 3 soldiers left in each player-controlled squad defending it. At that point, we are practically guaranteed to take the objective.
And I want to point out that this is an issue everyone knows about, yet nobody has ever found an answer other than using the menu to kill the last remaining soldiers in their squads so they can spawn a fresh squad.
But I thought of this solution: If your squad remains alive for a certain period (45–90 seconds), your dead squad members should respawn at the nearest Rally Point and head back to the point.
I believe this is a better solution than repeatedly committing suicide to get a fresh squad on the point ASAP. IIRC, soldiers in WWII weren’t using a strange menu to kill themselves in order to get desperately needed troops onto the point. Instead, reinforcements were showing up automatically.
