Does the reporting system work in the game? What should I do if I noticed a cheater? Is it enough to send a message about the violation or do I need more proof? Is there an option in the game itself when sending a report to record video?

To my knowledge the best way to report is after the match. You will see the scoreboard in the postgame screen and be able to report them by clicking their name.
If you really want to double check as well you can use the replay tool. You can always look up the suspicious player and search their replays to see their gameplay. I cant say how accurate the playback is though tbh.
I have played a few games during the day. I joined in on one particular players game once or twice during this time, on the same side (aka as an ally) and was killed by him. It wasn’t accidental. In one game, I was sniping opposing side AI and players from one vantage point, when he snuck up from behind and killed me. I reported this for unsporting conduct. I am curious as to what happens from this report ?

Ah yeah I had a few people like that. Putting barbed wire around spawns, firebombing friendlies, etc. Makes you wonder how people have the free time to do that kind of stuff.
But Yeah, I am curious how reports are handled. Would be nice to get a message when it is actioned.
