As it is right now the sniper squad is one of the ones unlocked at the start and that gives new players the idea that sniping is something to be done in the game. While sniping can be useful in a few very niche situations it is better for new players to have a squad that does not keep them away from the objective and while they may not know what to do with engineers at the start it is a more all around useful squad than a sniper squad, even used poorly.
I use three sniper squads in my German BR5 line up. All use StG 44’s with the scope removed, so they are essentially three Assaulter squads. I wouldn’t do away with sniper squads, however I would be happy if they just added more engineer squads. I also have three sniper squads I use sometimes in my Allies BR3 lineup, however I use one M1 Carbine sniper rifle with scope and one removed. So, I can snipe if the moment is right, and I find that after taking a cap point, a lot of the enemy like to stick around and ambush, and the sniper rifle works great to clear them out before proceeding to the next cap point.
this suggestion it’s since game existed, don’t expect they do it
The first gun I got good with when I first started playing Enlisted was the sniper rifle. It allowed me to learn without getting slaughtered up close. I think I had one BR1 sniper squad, one medic squad and one rifle squad. I sucked back then.
Now, I use all my sniper squads quite differently.
If the Allies had either a T-20 or an M2 Carbine sniper rifle, then all my BR3 sniper squads would get the scopes removed and all moved to BR5 and end up being three assaulter squads. However, the M1 Garand is not a strength at BR5 so that’s not an option at this time.
