So in my opinion having rank 1-5 is pretty cool and its pretty cool while expensive to get a max rank soldier of a class but whats really annoying and overcomplicates the game when your rank 5 trooper is now outclassed by a rank 1 trooper 2 and etc
Really just combine the Tier one and Tier 2s into just one tier the amount of classes is already alot there no need to over complicate things with the muilti tier system that obsoletes most of your early campaign soldiers. It also makes the random troop purchase really annoying when most of the time you get tier ones and in my case mostly snipers tank crew and pilots when i need troopers and assaultiers.
This is really pissing me off now the upgrading rank system is costly enough then adding muiltiple tiers is just to much. And i fear its only gonna get worse as theres Tier 3 snipers on normandy…

They have to make money bro
Out of the context of when they were added, I believe tier 2s were meant for 2 purposes:
-to add logistics trees for more weapons without bloating squads to level 50+
-to redo squad layouts to account for endgame classes like mortars that weren’t a part of the earlier squads
The latter purpose is now void because of the new squad layout system and mortars being taken out of non-mortar squads
Weapon trees are still somewhat relevant, however.

Having the second rifle squad have upgraded weapons would have been fine but adding duplicate classes that make the tier 1 soldiers of the same class obsolete is a horrible design choice in my opinion. have the first squad do the rank 1-5 and have the second squad do the Veteran thing they havent implemented yet.
Then combine all of the muiltiple tiers of the same class into the second tiers stats and call it done.
the muiltiple tiers all cost the same the money they make is no differant it just adds another level of unneeded complication. Removing the tier system and maintaining the rank system is best for everyone.

The tier system is an abastractation of requipping infantry but yes the actual sistem is to much complicated
