Reloading while bipoded

In my opinion soldier should automatically hide when reloading mounted weapon. If you want to pick than press Q or E. I don’t see a reason to not hide as default setting.
Of course sometimes it would be impossible, for example when you are mounted while leaning.
Yes, theoretically you can dismount, reload and mount again but system is too crude to do it reliably and fast enough. And I don’t see any reason to complicate it by not adding this feature.

Bipods are incredibly buggy as-is, I can’t imagine what that would do to it.

True, but they will be fixed at some point in the future (that is unless the game will die in agony). Described mechanic would be implemented after said fixes.
You may say it’s a bit futuristic post.

Depends what you mean by “mounted” - you do not hide when reloading a lmg on a bipod - you maintain your sight line so you do not have to pick it up again.

At least that is what I was taught 40 years ago on both Bren and FNMAG - so 1 magazine and 1 belt fed.

imo, devs need to primarily focus on making better bipod animations (animation where soldiers opens and puts a bipod etc.)
Other suggestions can come after bipods become less awkward

Good to know. Were you reloading by yourself or you had assistant (I’m curious, it’s not related to the topic)?

Or at least when it becomes impossible to bipod your carabine

I’m against bipoding rifles.

When using snipers, I can keep my aim without holding breath

The only rifle could keep that mechanic is Mosin grenade launcher as it uses a tripod

Leaning it on something is perfectly reasonable.
However the game does treat it like a bipod where the movement is unreasonably restricted while you’re leaning it.

Having a bipod for my PTRD is really nice now though. Setting it up on the ground lifts it higher up so I can actually see the tank I’m shooting from the prone.

The gunner did the reloading - the #2 was the ammo handler - handed him the magazine (Bren), or flipped the new belt into the open breech (MAG) - the gunner opened and then closed the breechon the MAG, removed the magazine on the Bren, and of course cocked both weapons.

#2’s also replaced barrels when required - but again the gunner more-or-less kept the gun on the bipod and pointed at the enemy.

You can see how quick it is to change a bren mag at 1:00 in this -
