The new event asks us to grind 25,000 score every two days, without a break, for 27 days just to unlock the ISU-152. That’s a colossal time investment, and many of us were willing to put in the work because a 152mm Soviet derp cannon sounded incredibly fun. But then we saw its battle rating: BR V.
Why? This makes absolutely no sense.
At BR V, the ISU-152 is forced to face Tiger II H)and Type 5 Ho-Ri tank destroyers every single match. These are some of the most heavily armoured, hardest-hitting machines in the entire game. My ISU-152, with its mediocre armour, enormous silhouette, long reload, and sluggish mobility, becomes nothing but free points for them. A King Tiger can slice through my casemate from any angle from halfway across the map, and the Ho-Ri sits behind a frontal plate that can casually bounce even your best AP rounds. The 152 mm gun might look scary on paper, but you rarely get a second chance to fire before you are already a burning wreck. Gun handling is poor, shell velocity is poor, survivability is hopeless — against top-tier meta monsters, it’s completely outclassed.
Now let’s talk about the KV-2. It also carries a 152 mm howitzer. It has the same derpy weaknesses: long reload, boxy armour, poor speed. Yet it sits comfortably at BR III. At BR III, the KV-2 gets to face Panzer IVs , tanks it can reliably delete with a single HE shell. It works. It’s fun. It fits its environment perfectly.
So please, developers, tell me: why does the ISU-152, using essentially the same calibre and only a marginally better anti-tank shell, deserve to fight two full BRs higher against late-war and paper-tank monsters? The penetration on the ML-20S APHE round is nowhere near enough to reliably frontally engage a Tiger II H turret, let alone a Ho-Ri casemate. Meanwhile, their guns turn you into scrap the moment you appear. This isn’t a challenge — it’s a joke that the player is the punchline of.
We were asked to grind for 27 days, maintaining a streak without slip-ups, for what was promised as an exciting reward. Instead, what we get is a vehicle that is completely unviable in its matchmaking bracket. This feels like a bait-and-switch. You took our time, our dedication, and in return you give us a punching bag that even veteran players will abandon after two matches.
Here is what needs to happen: either lower the ISU-152 to BR III, where it can actually fight Tigers and Panthers and make use of its derp gun in a meaningful way, or give it urgent buffs — faster reload, a shell with real penetration, better survivability, something. The current state is a slap in the face to the entire playerbase. Nobody will want to grind the next event vehicle if this is the precedent you set.
If you agree, upvote and comment to keep this visible. Devs need to see that we won’t quietly accept 27 days of effort being turned into misery in BR V lobbies.
