Regarding the crew seat switching speed of open-top APCs

While playing German BR 3 today, I noticed that the machine gunner on my open-top APC gets picked off by enemies extremely easily.
During this switching period, the driver cannot maneuver the vehicle and the gunner cannot operate the machine gun. This waiting time is far too long.
Every time I switch crew members, I’m forced to wait four to five full seconds. During that window where I can’t see or control the vehicle, opponents can pull out anti-tank weapons and blow my APC up head-on.

Shorten the crew seat switching speed of APCs to 1~2 seconds.
  • Yes, this change is absolutely necessary.
  • No, the current setting is reasonable.

This made me think: these transports are open-topped with cramped, unenclosed interiors. Imagine how quickly a person could stand up and swap seats in real life. Translated to combat conditions, this process should only take a second or two at most, allowing troops to take over the machine gun position rapidly.
I’ve lost countless vehicles today because my gunner kept getting killed and the crew swap timer is far too slow. Unlike tanks, APCs have no skill perks to reduce seat-switching speed for all crew members.
Right now, the crew switching speed of open-top APCs is nearly as slow as that of fully enclosed tanks without relevant skills, yet open-topped vehicles should never be burdened with such slow seat-switching penalties.
Therefore, I suggest DF shorten the base crew switching time for all open-top APCs to just one or two seconds.

Just like how we can spend squad research points on radiomen to cut the call-in time for artillery barrages and heavy airstrikes in half, I suggest adding a new research perk in the APC squad tech tree. This perk should reduce APC crew seat-switching time by 75% to drastically speed up crew position transfers

yes when switching control should be posible in 1~2 seconds also i think you should be able to rive the apc from any position if the driver is still driveing

I came up with this suggestion because countless times I’ve run head-on into enemy tanks while driving an APC, and a single enemy shot instantly took out both my machine gunner and driver. Only two crew members were down, and the remaining crew only needed to move about 1.5 meters to reach the driver’s seat, yet the game forces a 3 to 5 second wait to switch positions. This gap gives the enemy tank time to fire a second shot and blow up the entire vehicle with everyone on board.

This outcome infuriates me every time it happens. I could have quickly taken control of the steering wheel to reverse and evade the anti-tank round if the crew switch was faster. It’s obvious that there’s no skill perk to speed up crew switching for APC crews, so their seat swap speed remains as slow as that of a tank with no relevant upgrades.

agreed it does suck when that happens and maby ther should be a new APC rider clas for faster seat swaping aka a copy of the apc driver

I have to say that switching to a new soldier after getting killed also takes way too long.
