I was looking at posts about redesigning levels in Normandy. And one thought came into mind: what if the linear campaign is divided into several linear tech trees?
My idea is making three lines: American infantry, British Infantry, and Vehicles. Below is the example:
US infantry: Springfield,m3&m3A1 grease gun, Thompson M1 bazooka
UK infantry: Lee-Enfield, Sten, Lanchester, Thompson, PIAT
Once the weapon is unlocked in one line, the weapon can be used by troops in the other line.
Weapons widely used by both lines, such as the Thompson, must be unlocked at the same level.
For example, if US line unlocks the Thompson, Both British and US troops can use the Thompson.
And the experience earned by US infantry squads only goes to US infantry line(same for UK and vehicles).
This method has several advantages:
- Players can use diverse weapons with less grinding
(grinding 10 levels twice is easier than grinding 20 levels) - Players can choose what to grind
- Devs don’t have to make a 40-level campaign which is too grindy. Two 25-level tech trees will give Devs more space for diverse weapons(and more premium squads).
The same can be applied for Normandy Axis and Tunisia.
WW2 experts, feel free to leave opinions about this idea!! What do you think?
If you think this is good idea, please share it with others. Thanks for reading.
P.S. grinding 0-Lv.10 needs 307700xp, and 0-Lv.20 requires 1414100xp
1414100/307700 is around 4.6
