Recon Planes, Radio Operator Ability

Recon Planes should be added an ability for the Radio Operator. The Recon Plane will fly over the map and spot enemy targets. It can spot enemy vehicles, rallies, guns, even potentially the position of enemy soldiers. It will be an extremely useful ability. Knowlledge is an extremely valuable weapon in warfare.

This ability can be countered by enemies and enemy planes shooting it down, thus giving planes another job to feel more useful on the battlefield

Just to be clear, this is an ability to be added to the Radio Operators as an upgrade like all their other abilities. Radio abilities should NOT be locked to some premium squad like Rocket Artillery. Its ridiculous to paywall a mechanic

Please make it an AI plane like in RO2, I simply doubt anyone would want to waste his time flying these.
Radio operator or sniper class could call it and the recon would reveal all enemies, all enemy vehicles in the open. As well as rallies regardless of position (since a “rally” point, so its supposed to be noticeable due to high enemy activity).

And how would you balance that and or make them not useless? I’ve never played the mentioned game so if it did then i wouldn’t know.

Simply marking all enemies is absolutely overpowered as that is extremely unlikely someone from the sky could see everyone and also relay that to the ground troops.

And not marking covered tanks is well… useless… we all should know the random pieces of metal that prevent you from spotting a tank from afar currently.

In RO2, the recon plane marks all enemies on the map for a short while, which was usually important to call an accurate artillery strike. It could work in Enlisted by the recon plane placing one red marker arrow at the approximate location of a squad (or the squad leader), unless they are in cover or indoors thus cannot be seen.
In Enlisted, the maps are smaller and its always more obvious where the enemies are, but attacker aircraft could benefit from some spots, but you still dont know for sure what is at the spot so its a high risk high reward game. The spot could be an entire 9 men squad or just a random marker by a teammate with no one in sight.

recon plane could be countered by AA, other aircraft and buildable camo net which hides soldiers beneath.

I voted yes, however, I can’t imagine a slow flying recon plane lasting more then 45 seconds in the game if enemy planes are flying. :joy:
