I can understand pushing against attackers a bit with counterattacks, but this is getting ridiculous. I’m constantly having games where the teammates will run OUT of the objective, straight at the enemy spawn, which doesn’t help because the enemy has already flanked and set up a rally. The enemy takes that objective, then sprints to get into position and take the next one, usually before our teammates have time to react and retreat or die to respawn.
My group and I usually get stuck attempting to hold the objective against the entire force of the enemy team while the rest of ours are way in front or way behind the objective. Its gotten so bad that I’ve gotten in the habit of immediately falling back to set up the second sometimes even the third point just to give us a fighting chance. The problem here is when there are 2 or 3 different locations it could go and I have to guess which one it will be. If I guess wrong, we usually have a 10-20% chance of winning. If I guess right, our chances go up to 50-60% chance.
Before someone decides to jump down my throat and say that I should be fighting on current objectives rather than fortifying future objectives, please note 2 things:
- We’ve tried this. We get steam rolled every time.
- By the end of the game I’m still ending up in top 2-4. 80+ kills and anywhere from 100-200 engineer interactions. Including 30+ teammates spawned on rally points. Meanwhile, our teammates have 40 kills or less, and 15+ squad deaths.
If I don’t fortify, we lose.
If I chose the wrong location, we lose.
Again, the issue is that teammates are overextending, getting flanked, then get stuck in enemy territory while the attackers get a HUGE headstart on the next objective.
Sidenote: I’ve talked to a couple of them, and the reply is always the same. “Running out to attack the enemy is what you are supposed to do.” Is basically what every one of them say. Idk whether more tutorials might help or what, but they just don’t seem to understand that the objective is what is important. It’s not even just new players either! I’ve seen them with lvl 25+ gear like STGs and such!

I have like 80%+ WR already, winning doesn’t mean a thing for me. I want to have fun. Camping is
.
Sorry not sorry mate, deal with it.
It depends on the map where some cap points are just too open to stay in so had to use the surrounding areas nearby. Objectives full of fortifications but the team sucks at killing the enemy is not gonna help much. What’s more importance in defending is how good the team is at fighting instead of just 1 guy with high level equipment sweating to kill most of the enemies because his teammates suck at killing.
Even worse if the team do nothing against enemy tanks and planes that’s killing the defenders in the objective where no amount of fortifications can fix that.
Based on my experience, I find firepower perform much better in defending the objective that means well placed MG nests(especially HMGs) and ammo boxes where they actually kill the enemy instead of just slowing them down through obstacles. Sure having both is better but firepower is much more important.
Doesn’t help that the map design often encourages this with objectives that are way too exposed to defend from within.
Particularly Omer, which has the castle objective, which is open af and forces you to either go in to the castle or leave the objective or be nuked to oblivion, & the many house objectives which for some reason have completely exposed sides facing the enemy spawn so the enemy can see all over the objective and you can’t.
Honestly, at this point, Omer is just one big mess that encourages people to NOT play the objective.

It is because they are right. 2- 3 squads in the point are enough to prevent the enemy from quick capping. The rest should stay nearby (40- 80 m away from the point) or use the tanks, planes and HMG.
More squads in the point = more easy kills for flametroopers, tanks and the artillery.

Really? Because while they are getting a few measly kills when pushed up to the enemies grayzone, they do absolutely nothing to the guys that are using a rally point on a flank. My group and I have to deal with pretty much the ENTIRE enemy team at once, while they have trouble dealing with one or two squads.
Of course, staying all team in one point is the easiest way to get encircled.
You would lost even earlier, if they would listen to your advice.

I don’t think he’s saying everyone has to be on the circle at all times. I think his point is more rather people running away and not even trying to defend it when necessary.
All too often I see the team has been wiped from the objective, so what do the recently spawned teammates do? Run to the sides of the map, and no one gets back on it.

The problem i see in this case is polar opposite of your complaint; they dont spread enough.
Generally if you are not sneaking from behind or use decelvlblng tactlcs ( impossible in most of the maps since they are small) , there is only 2 way of capturing for attacker:
1-Secure flank and provide supporting fire to the guys in middle
2- use overwhelming firepower if you have it and push frontally.
Now, best thlng to do as defender is set up a chain of rallies shape like half moon so you will have defenslve perimeter that cover all flanks.
Most of the time teams dont do that. They just put 1 rally or no rally and gather in narrow objective and becomes easy prey.
In berlin and stalingrad this can work somethimes but other open maps this is not a good solution
Attackers are constantly pushing right down the middle against us in most cases. Perhaps a couple on flanks.
Just finished a game where all of our teammates were on flanks yet again, and nobody in the middle. We had two rallies up, including one that was mine. However, teammates would literally not even try to hold the defense at all. There were even a few objectives that the teammates were right next to the capture zone, like 3 feet outside of it, but they didn’t step into it to help stop the capture.
