Does USSR have paratroopers available for research or purchase or is there no way to get them any more
Soviet faction has two paratrooper squads
1 event, available in gamble box which returns every once in a while but your chance to get it is small.
1 premium which you can purchase in the research tab, on the bottom of the page there should an AS-44 model 4 (IRC) which is actually the paratrooper squad.
Soviet paras are a good purchase since their weapons are changable thus you can use them in any BR.

So if a buy the shop squad with the as44 I basically get two squads
Huh? No be careful since there are two premium squads with AS-44, one is only an assaulter squad the other is paratrooper squad.

Model 4 is wrong squad. It is the one with bayonet and the squad is assaulters not paras. Para squad gets as 44 model 5
