Radio Communication

I’m not even sure about this one, but - suppose only squads with radio operators (or vehicles with radios installed) could mark targets or ask for target coordinates? This would give radio operators a much more active and interactive role on the battlefield, and create an additional avenue for cooperation among different squads. It would also reflect the real disadvantages of units that lacked radio capabilities (such as Moscow/Stalingrad T-34).

This can also create an additional incentive for snipers to target radiomen, or for AT gunners to aim to knock out tank radio operators, as doing so would immediately sever communications between enemy units and give your team a tactical advantage.

On the other hand, it strengthens heavy weapons, tanks and other markable targets, since they can no longer be immediately painted by any unit that sees them. This could increase their survivability.

Alternatively, have requests/markers only visible to players within a 20m radius of the sender, whereas radios transmit all over the map.

not quite.

if we are to speak about " realism ",

radio operators shouldn’t need to be in a " radio " squad.

they could, and should be able to call any type of artillery indipendent of the squad.

also, i personally despite the ability to know the enemy location with less effort.
similar to battlefield sniper pistol flare or cod UAV.

not realistic, or beneficial in the enlisted case.

perhaps that’s just me.

but we should’t have some sort of overwatch area effects of bonus / malus or being able to see enemies behind walls or vehicles that have yet to leave the spawn.

not cool nor realistic all.

Some on the people in this forum are totally out of touch with reality
First
you must remove the general team chat alltogehther to implement that kind of system.
Second
if you are looking for full realism, radio operators are default for every unit in real armies. We dont have that kind of system
Even a hardcore shooter hll doesnt have that kind of realistic system.
Third
Vast majority of the playerbase doesnt even built rallies properly, using their planes as kamikazes etc… you expect them to coordinate like real military squad ?
Fourth
Average playable area in most maps are about footbal field size. What communication you are talking about ?

It’s a larger play area than that, and in WWII there were still many units operating without radios (i.e Russian and Japanese infantry and armor, to say the least) which was reflected on the ability of units to communicate. The ability of German armor to penetrate so deeply in Barbarossa against ostensibly superior Russian armor is largely attributed to the inability of Russian armor to properly coordinate - in other words, by not having a mechanism for this, the game actually unbalances units that were more or less fairly matched against each other in real life.
