Japan’s primary opponent possesses two excellent jet powered aircrafts in the F80 and Meteor, while Japan only has 1. The Kikka is by no means a bad vehicle, but the very limited ammo capacity of only 100 rounds means it can’t spend very long dogfighting at all when there’s multiple enemy aircraft. If anything, the Kikka is better at attacking ground targets due to it’s 30mm cannons and large 800kg bomb than it is than fighting enemy jets.
I propose the R2Y2 v1 be added to Japan’s tech tree as an alternative to the Kikka. It possesses 600 rounds of 30mm shells which is a 6x improvement over the Kikka and gives it an ammo capacity more in line with the Meteor which has 720 rounds of 20mm shells.
However, to balance the R2Y2 v1, it should not be given any bombs. This would allow the Kikka to still remain viable with its 800kg payload.
The R2Y2 also has two additional variants, the v2 and v3, which would make for good candidates for a premium / event vehicle, but in order to keep this suggestion concise, I’ll save that for a future topic.

1 500 kg bomb is not worth 240 rounds of 30mm

You do understand that we have Enlisted here, not War Thunder? And we have infantry here. And in the reality of Enlisted, any aircraft without pods, bombs, or missiles is USELESS garbage. The only exceptions are aircraft with particularly large guns, such as the German Schwalbe with a 50 mm gun and the Henschel with a 75 mm gun. Even then, these aircraft are quite specialized and their usefulness is questionable. Conclusion: if the R2Y2 Jet family is to be added to Enlisted, then ONLY WITH BOMBS.
You are creating a jet fighter the allies lack a jet fighter, you did see the part about one 500 kg bomb you would get as not being a fair trade for Nearly double the ammo. Just creating something close to the me263 or a fair exchange for a single 500 kg bomb. The meteor has 2 1000 kg bombs and four weak 20 mm guns so what a meteor with 1200 rounds and no bombs. Sorry not good with planes but stick more to the me262 then you fantasy set up
my reasoning is because the R2Y2 can only use 800kg bombs, and if it were added to the tech tree, it would essentially make the Kikka outclassed and pointless, which I would like to avoid

The R2Y2 Jet family is a paper even by Japanese standards. Moreover, this paper has no justification for appearing in Japanese TT. Why? It would be better to add them to events and give them a normal 800 kg bomb, if the R2Y2 Jet family appears in our game at all.
Ho-Ri was necessary because the Japanese needed something to serve as a top-tier tank with good armour and a good gun. Ho-Ri was introduced into the Japanese TT because there was no other option; historically, Japan had a poor track record in tank construction during World War II. And why put the R2Y2 Jet family in the TT? Don’t the Japanese have any other candidates for jet aircraft? Don’t the Japanese have Kikka?
Honestly I think with a purely HE belt the R2Y2 could definitely work. Hell even with the Kikka, when I haven’t had planes to shoot at, I’ve splashed a decent amount of infantry in small bursts. I think it’d be fun to use is as a strafing plane that can clear lanes and fight planes for a prolonged period before rearming. Whilst the Kikka remains a tank deleter and wipe open area clearance.
Absolutely yes. Japan still lacks a good BR4 attack aircraft in the form of B7A2 (up to a single 800kg bomb, 2×20mm cannons, 13.2mm rear gunner, mid speed, good maneurability) at BR4, but top-of-the-line bomber should definitely be the R2Y2.
