Question: Tank's mgs on cars

i’m not an ballistic expert, or sure about it. but does tank’s mg have some sort of AP ammonutions?

because i sprayed like a few bursts on a car ( around 5/10 bullets ) and somehow the car got blowed up. ( on the back )

i need this information as i’m making a thread about cars right now.
but i honestly don’t think i should have killed a car that quickly. and as i said, i need proof since i’m not sure about it.

Cheers^^

50cals definitely did have AP rounds in their belt
MG34s might have the “hart” round, a tungsten core round

so capable to destroy a car and set it on fire with just a couple of rounds of cox mg?

Those rounds had around 15mm of armor penetration. They would be able to damage it at least.

it’s not even a question as to whether or not it would penetrate- it is an antimaterial round, after all.

The real question is if the car should just explode like that.

Most HMGs use a mix of Ball (copper jacket/lead core) incendiary, AP, and API (tracer), so theoretically it is possible to light them on fire. For them to explode, they’d need some sort of explosive in it.

Fuel explosions are possible, even though much more unlikely despite all of the depictions of them in movies and games. It probably should be toned down.
