Question about tanks 2 in tunisia

This question is mostly about the tanks you unlock with the tanker 2 squad, the grant mk1 and the 75/32 m41. I will add that i find both the ab 41 and m14/41 to be competent tanks at both anti infantry and anti tank roles (with an exception)

I today unlocked the 75/21 m41, played one game with it and i do not believe i will be touching it again. Am i missing something? On one side (grant mk1) there is a tank with dual HE/AP guns and on the other is a tank with only 1 shell, the APCBC (75/32 m41) which is good for most tanks but bad against infantry. The grant has a good amount of armor on all sides while the 75/32 m41 has weaker armor on the front and tissue paper armor on the side. The grant has many tools to use against infantry while the 75/32 m41 basically has none. Overall it seems the grant can fill many roles while the 75/32 m41 is only filling the role of being able to kill the grant.

As i said at the beginning of the last paragraph, am i missing something or is the 75/32 m41 a really weak, super situational tank by comparison to the grant?

Sounds like the M10 vs Panther situation in Normandy. Have to wait until further down the road for stronger Axis tanks in Tunisia but the Italian TD seems to be in place solely to destroy the Grant

I might as well take a Stuka for that job. Which renders the 75/32 rather useless as after the enemy tanks are taken out you’ve got no proper role and as such only hurt your team if you stay in it. So you might just as well suicide to respawn as infantry.

If we would look at it from a fair perspective - both sides getting tanks that are proper anti-infantry and anti-tank - the counter to the Grant should be a Stummelkanone Panzer IV with a strong HE round and an okayish AP.

Yes I agree. I just dont try to picture the entire campaign currently. By level 29 or 32 the entire campaign may turn on its head. Just do like everyone else and dont play Tunisia until the campaign is expanded

Cant wait for them to add a tiger and fuck things up even more :sunglasses:

Maybe just give it a HE

yeah i feel the same, guilty, same as whjen i in plane, is, wish i had a parachute, could do more, but surly giving it a HE shell, would solve all?

I mean i can build a gun, with engineer and it gets both ammo, why not give TD a HE

If nothing else, the APCBC round seems to have enough explosive mass to be decently effective against infantry too. It isn’t exceptional, but still you can get those multikills on grouped soldiers. I’d say it’s at least as effective as the 37mm HE in that regard.

It sound exactly like the m10 vs Panther situation

Semovente is a tank destroyer like m10 so you need attack from distance or ambush but is good aganaist all tank

I have to agree, once the tanks are gone youre basically waiting for more to spawn. and the stuka part is on point. you have a lot more versatility than with just a td.

i took a look at the same tank in the war thunder wiki and over there it actually has an he shell, makes it strange they wouldnt add it here

i thought the apcbc shell is just a better pen ap shell, no explosive mass? isnt it armor-piercing-capped-ballistic-capped and the ones with explosive mass are (aphe) armor-piercing-high-explosive and other variations with he in the abbreviation

It’s not strange they balance like this, allmost all US tanks have AP instead of APC/APCBC.

The t28 doesn’t have APHE but HEAT.

but the grant has a 75mm gun with both an ap anti tank round and an anti infantry he round, yet the 75/32 only has what is basically ap. thats why im saying im confused as to why it doesnt have apcbc and he as options

You’re not wrong, yet in game it also goes boom. Must be an APHEBC or such.

It is also worth mentioning that, from WT and the relative research about Italian shells, it turns out that Italian 75mm APHE boasts relatively low pen because it’s got thin walls to house a ridiculously large amount of HE filler (270 grams or so). In fact it struggles to pen, but when it does it hurts like hell.

The Semo is a support tank far away and wait for your prey like a hunter. If u see a soldier shoot the ground or if u can shoot a soldier and u get splash damage. And yes grant dm is Strafe shoot the side nothing.

M10 has at least a .50cal at its top which can be devastating in certain situations.

But the main problem to me is the devs decided that for “balance” the M10 and 75/21 have no HE round. Which is absurd as it’s A) unrealistic and B) these tanks actually do need a buff.

The “guilt” of staying in tank destroyers or fighter planes is actually another topic that gets worse by the low player count of matches but to spend a whole time driving to the action and then after destroying one annoying enemy tank having to self detonate for the good of the team is extremely unsatisfying.

the m10 has HE but you cant use it, the moment the enemy tanks see you you’re dead you cant have an HE loaded.

the 6 times i’ve used it the commander died in the span of 1 minute so idk

the problem is that the best TD in normandy is the p47, absolutely OP rockets and a 500 bomb

i’ve used a lot and with a cover of a fighter it can really carry the game

While being risky to your commander I found out it’s worth a try. The M8 Scott first appeared like a downgrade to the M5A1 to me due to having no coaxial MG and a rather slow moving turret until I noticed that the .50cal is actually super effective when being stationary and with a certain distance to any infantry threat.
