Question about AT Mine Function

A few questions about the mechanics behind AT mines.

  1. At any point, for any reason, is there any code in the game that despawns/disables placed AT mines?
    1*. If so, why?
  2. The trigger radius for mines doesn’t seem to be limited to the actual model, how large is the hitbox in reality?
  3. if a mine is placed under dirt, wedged between the logs of a bridge, or otherwise placed in an area that might obscure its visibility to oncoming vehicles, will full armor penetration still be dealt?
  4. What are some good ways to prevent AT mines from being destroyed by stray artillery/ordinance?
  5. Does the greyzone or moving greyzone in most gamemodes interact with the function of AT mines?

(I’m trying to farm AT mine vehicle kills, having difficulties with the results of detonations being inconsistent.)

It’s a bit scummy yet smart:

Place mines on a road. Surround them by sandbags just like if they were rally points.

Tanker will see this and think “ah, punny sandbags won’t stop my tonk! I’ll plow through, rawr.”

Then boom.

Sandbags also protect from arty, so, bonus.

I don’t really do that because sandbags are destroyed on certain modes when the greyzone moves
Although it is nice for conquest, you can also do the same with barbed wire for hilarious results

there is none.

which you can potentially place infinite mines all over the map as long you have them.

and gray zone does not destroy or deactivate mines.

since they are their own entities.

around 10 to 15.

though the " blast radious " that is the most effective against tanks happens to be from 0 to 5.
the rest, decreases the damage and penetration.

yes, objects do block the shrapnel radius.

and it’s also important to understand that, each tank is different.
also worth to mention that, mines don’t always fully destroy vehicles unless ammo racks / hits the ammo.

matter of fact, mines disable components and kills tankers. but it’s not always a guarateed to be a one shot kill fully destroying the tank on impact.

medium to heavier tanks can sometimes survive the blast area depending the angle the mine hitted the tank.

map knowldge usually plays a big role.
especially in knowing the enemy spawns and what not.

with that being said, you don’t have to spawn camp to get kills.

tanks usually are fasters on roads rather than offroads.
which most people tend to ( not always though ) travel on roads.

mines are most effective as our colleagues said, behind sandbags or behind smaller objects to hide it’s shape.

hence, best to place mines on roads that lead to the objective.
3 to 4 meters around corners ( though most expert tankers completely avoid buildings ) and heights.

since most do love to snipe.

alternatives would be to bait.
place tank traps and leave a spot open for a vehicle to travel.
they’ll think the engineer didn’t had enough points and / or died ( perhaps having a bodie next to it might sell the idea ) and leave a mine in said open spot.

where you want to avoid mines though, are on top of open objectives.
because chances are, artillery will destroy them and take out anyone around.

Just on my own experience, I get the best effect taking say a 6 man engineering squad with mines, and laying a minefield on a road leading to the next point, then placing tank traps on either side of the road to funnel tanks in.

That or using AT mines on a partisan squad and laying mines on the reinforcement road.

Weirdly enough, placing them beside other tank wrecks works weirdly well too since tankers like to use dead wrecks as cover.

If it has a pysical model the explosion will be affected but there are tons of props on the street that do not have collision and can be used to hide the mine inside as the mine with just phase into it.
Best things to hide mines in are the lose sandbags (without collision but with a texture) that are scattered everywhere on the streets in for example the normandy villages or the lone bushed of grass that litter the dirt roads/ intersections.

If you are just intressted in AT mine kills then you can use the japanese lunge mine aswell as this one also counts as an AT mine when used.

Having fun playing with anti-tank mines XDDD

What?

The HP of AT mines is 10.So it is often detonated.
It seems that AT mines can only penetrate armor of 35-39mm (I am sure it cannot penetrate armor of 40mm).
I hope it’s helpful to you. These data were tested by myself.
