I’ve been playing enlisted now for a while, testing every campaign and pushing on army beyond level 21. So i though it would be time to review the experience and point out some of the most annoying things that have a negative effect on playing and enjoying the game:
- game perspective/scale for some unknown reason seems off. The maps, buildings and other things seem to have been designed to a different scale than the units the player plays. i.e. windows, fences and walls very often seem to either be just a tad to small or just a tad to high.
- mounting weapons is a pain and mostly useless, above point seems to play into this. I found it very hard to properly mount weapons, often the game snaps the weapon to a rather useless spot with very limited arc. MGs suffer the most of this as they do not use there build in bipod to mount, but also clipp to the terrain.
- clipping/collision model in general; tanks/vehicles gets stuck on weird things, sometimes for no apparent reason, but same thing goes for troopers, who often refuses to properly move/jump cause something seems to interfere
- scoring leans to much towards frags instead of playing the objective
- HE balancing is very weird, hand grenades are more or less a joke, same goes for most HE tank rounds. Artillery/explosive packages seems reasonable, while aircraft bombs are ridicolously overpowered. Countless times i.e. i lost a transmission and/or engine in a tank while some bomb hit landed 30-40m away. Also bomb effect on troops reminds more like the drop of a modern aerosol bomb instead of a WW2 era 250kg or 500kg bomb
- AA/ATG guns ignoring HE rounds, i found that to kill/cripple crew on those you actually need to fire at them with AP/APHE rounds as HE rounds do not hurt them, even using the MG is more effective against them than a direct tank HE hit
- another aircraft issue, why aircraft seem the only unit type where being dead doesn’t effect the payload droped? As a trooper i often hit/shot a guy, but as his bullet hits me 1st, mine seems to disappear. Only aircraft can freely suicide/crash into points/troops/vehicles and enjoy the results of there bombs detonating anyway.
- spawn point placing on some maps allows for spawn to spawn LOS and therefor firing right from the start, thats bad map design
- the grind; yep its a Gaijin game and the grind was expected to be hard. But as it is designed currently it prevents players from advancing multiple campaigns, thus spreading the - seemingly not to large - player base thin over four…maybe soon even more campaings. Not to mention that each campaign has to sides, so you actually double the grind lanes. i.e. i have advanced the axis on Tunis the most, which gives me a solid useable setup for battles there, knowing i have every tool i need to make a difference. I do not really have an incentive to play any other side/campaign where i start completely fresh with the pain of not really being able to make a mark on the battle result.
Thats its for now.
