Yes but owners of the premium squads shouldn’t get anything special

The SU-76M was the second-most produced armored vehicle type by the soviets during WW2.
The Chi-Ha was either the second or third-most produced tank in general by Japan during WW2.
The M24 had over 4000 units produced.
The StuG ausf. G was the most widely produced StuG at over 8000 units.
The fact that these are premium is, to be honest, very silly. What do you do, though? You can’t just make a premium tank into a tech tree tank, people who bought the premium won’t be happy that their tank isn’t as special(though it’d just be outright better than the TT variants since it gets its own squad AND all the benefits of a premium squad) so what can you do?
Simple. Give them a coupon or free gold equivalent to the price of their premium. Everyone wins. Also maybe give them a special skin to signify the fact that they are, in fact, a premium version of the squad, and that you should be jealous of their free slot and extra xp.
Other tanks I’ve forgotten:
Achilles
Firefly VC(there were different models of the firefly at least)
M8 Greyhound(you could even add the M20, the version with just a .50 and no turret, as a rider II vehicle!)
Pz 38(t)
Mathilda
Valentine
As well as the P-63 for the soviets since we basically gave them ALL our P-63s and a lot of our P-39s
It doesn’t really make sense for some of the most common vehicles to be premium.
I’m indifferent on the stug since there’s already a tech tree version of it. But the rest yes please. People here need to stop defending whales. These premiums have been out for years they’ve had their fun. There’s a very clear reason these should get tech tree variants that the rest of weapons and vehicles lack. So slippery slope even as a fallacy doesn’t work here.
Like tell me, do whales actually lose anything here? If anything they get to spam the vehicles they like even more, and they still get double xp, premium slot, cycling potential, and whatever other things these are decided to be given to compensate
Unfortunately you really can’t. There was only the SU-76, produced in very small numbers, and the SU-76M, which was the most produced TD during WW2 for the russians, there were no other variants of the M24 that didn’t involve a 40mm bofors, the Chi-Ha Kai was the only variant of the Chi-Ha and is already in the game(as an event vehicle lole), the StuG F and StuG IV are the only similar vehicles to the G, and there isn’t even a StuG IV in WT and the F is already in the tech tree, so it doesn’t make sense to keep some of the most commonly produced vehicles of their kind premium-only.
Ok not to be devils advocate but there was multiple variants of the Chaffee. One has better armor but much more weight (and I think a m3 cannon). One had the turret of Chaffee but hull of a lvt. One had an upgraded engine, no commander Cupula, and a muzzle break. There’s a couple more but I left my book on light tanks back home
I assume you’re thinking of the T24E1, which, afaik, only 1 prototype was converted from an original T24 prototype, and the prototype LVT with the chaffee turret, both of which aren’t exactly TT material. You could probably get the T24E1 instead of the M24 for the premium squad but, afaik, WT doesn’t even have that modeled, so it’s unlikely.
I have all of these premiums. And I very much agree make them Tech Tree.
Don’t need to give anything to us who already own them, WE have an extra Squad that can be put in the Premiums only slot, so win already.
I’d much more appreciate we get the Standard/general Issue vehicles and weapons in the tech Tree where they should be!
i own most of these premiums cause unlike other premiums, those did actually saw extensive combat ( not to be the veekay here, but i dont have much interestr for stuff that isn’t well known or was barely used. they sure still have their places, just not in my line ups )
with that being said, i think having a fully kitted out crew, the time they had to use it, and the prem bonuses as well as run a double ( aka, being able to use 2 at the same time ) is kinda enough imo.
EDIT,
i would also make the case for the m8 greyhound.
one of the most produced armored cars and an adequate low br vehicle at that being locked for premium should be considered a crime.
YES i forgot about the greyhound. it would also be more balanced than the current options especially if given a stabilizer. the 37mm is super weak against infantry even at br1 and the 50 cal helps compensate
I’ve also included the other tanks that I can remember, plus the P-63 since the soviets were given basically all of the US’s P-63s and they were basically its most prolific user.
I own all of these, but I strongly agree. In the first place, only weapons that were barely seen—or at most minor ones—in World War II should be premium squads. It’s especially insane that the most widely used tank, the Chi-Ha, isn’t in the Tech Tree, while the Japanese tank tree is almost entirely filled with bizarre weapons that were hardly used at all. Among them, the only one that was actually used is the Ha-Go.
