Proposals for new mechanisms for AI soldiers

I really think there should be an option for the AI soldiers to take cover (go prone, hide) when the commander is running and gets gunned down by the enemy—instead of the AI troops just standing there like idiots, recklessly unloading bullets nonstop at the foe. You know, it takes a little time to switch to another soldier after one gets taken out, and that’s plenty for the enemy’s machine guns to mop up the rest. It turns into an endless loop: switch squad member, get instantly shredded (because the AI always pops up to return fire), until the whole squad’s wiped. On top of that, we’re wasting even more time trying to spot the enemy. So yeah, ducking for cover and waiting for a counterattack opportunity feels way more sensible than standing tall and spraying wildly. Plus, it’s realistic—no one’s gonna stand there like a statue with bullets whizzing past their face (haha). What do you guys think? Maybe this gripe is just 'cause I’m sucking at the game :>

Define take cover,
Hide in a room being used only as spare live contributing nothing to attack or defence
Take cover hide behind cover without returning fire,
Take cover do not stand in open return fire
I like the last but I have enough problems with real players doing the first 2, ignoring the game to rack up kills and score

If the bots were properly programed, they would already take cover when we order them to stay in a room. However, the problem with the bots is that they don’t stay in the ordered room, and those that do stay CHOOSE to go stand in front of an open door or window, just offering themselves up as cannon fodder. Those on the battlefield WILL NOT RUN, so they are constantly 50 + meters behind you. If another enemy engages them, they stop and freeze in the open like a Deer in the headlights.

Either the Dev’s are incompetent as hell when it comes to basic bot programming, or they are intentionally bad because they are only intended to be cannon fodder. We already know the Dev’s possess the skill to mirror a bot to the player, hence why your bots lay down when you lay down, so why can’t they be mirrored to the player when it comes to running, or entering a building the same way. Way too many of my bots die when I enter a building through a back window avoiding the enemy in the front, while my dumbass bots bypass the window and try and run PAST the enemy through the front door.

If I choose for them to be aggressive, then I would expect for them to be seeking confrontation with the enemy, however when I choose passive, they should be expected to AVOID confrontation at all cost…But they don’t. If they are set to passive, they still stand in front of doors or windows, they still lag 50 + meters behind because they refuse to run, and they still have the deer in the headlight look when someone shoots at them.

I don’t care if my bots every kill anyone, I just want them to OBEY orders and stop being retarded.
