Preparation time for defenders

just a simple suggestion about the invasion,destruction gamemode
before the match starts give defenders some time to build or to get to point i think 30 seconds would be more than enough this time would allow engineers to build fortifications and people to actually get on the point since in some cases i would spawn and the enemy would already be capturing the point.
the second thing that would be quite cool if the attackers would take the points the defenders would have to retreat(you would get a small score for successful retreat) and then you would have lets say like 20-30 seconds delay before the attackers would be able to move forward and attack

The attackers would demand a right of reply in a preparatory artillery barrage for 20-30 seconds - likely to erase the fruits of any defensive labours under current game design conditions :wink:

While i somewhat agree with you, how come i have time to ultra fortify almost any point on any map as a defneder? Just give engi speed building and more mats and you’re set. Use x on whatever you’re buikding for a bot to add extra speed. If you’ve ever been on confro and played as russian on moskow where you have to cap that huge house with the attic, and you tried to run inside only to be met by endless barbed wire, hedgehogs and sandbags that’s me. I always build every available piece of defensive structure before anyone even has a chance to shoot the first bullet. I’ve helped win multiple matches where fortifying a house is possible. You just gotta think fast.

*capture and secure is that attackers have to clear all defenders from objective to move on.

well maybe its just the matches i played but since the objectives are dynamic in not always sure which building is gonna be the objective and sometimes its also the team

Agreed. If your team doesn’t provide a temporary meatshield for the first 10-20 seconds yeah it’s pretty hard. You have to let your autistic side take control and learn roughly every building from when you defend. Taking screenshots when the match progresses with the map open helps too. I love fortifying with engi so i do this alot.

Most definitely needed since paratroopers were added into the game.
Its very annoying when they get to the objective faster then you as a defender can run to it.

I like this idea but I think it needs slightly more balancing. If you ultra fortify a point it can be almost impossible to take. Perhaps allowing players to build around the point and place blueprints on the point in the 30 seconds you suggest would be a better system. Still allows you to fortify but prevents full on pillow forts (which is already the meta.)

I like your score for retreating idea. I think 300-500 score for successful retreat would be fair (about 10 kills worth of XP since it’s sometimes hard to get more than that.) I also think attackers should get a 100-200 score bonus for any squad they wipe out during the retreat phase. Like a “No Retreat” bonus would incentivize finishing the job instead of trying to just bum rush.

Still, pillow forts need to be toned down for this to work fully.
