Premium squads overhaul

A few words of explanation

To be clear, I don’t own any premium squads so my pow is not objective.

One of the reasons I don’t own them, is that they are not apealing to me. Most squads are simply bad.
Second reason is that premium squads break all the “rules”. Engineers with LMGs, 6 man specialist squads etc. I really hate this.

So my pow is of someone who maybe would like to buy a premium squad, but not in it’s current form.

Concept of new premium squads.

Premium squad should have the same composition and other restrictions as it’s f2p counterpart. It would also have the same “blue” and “red” upgrade trees but player should be able to change mutually exclusive upgrades (like backpack vs 2nd primary weapon) for free at any time.

While this would decrease theoretical firepower, the masive increase in versatility should make up for this.

Squad would be sold fully manned with the maximum number of squad class soldiers and riflemans as filler (4/4 assaulters and 3 riflemans for an assaulter squad).
When managing the squad, no soldiers should be locked. If I want to have 2/4 assaulters, I should have such option.
Similarly no weapons / equipment should be locked. If I want to repalce my premium gun, I should be able to. But still only soldiers from this squad should be able to use said gun.

All soldiers in a squad should have guns that match their class. So no engineer with LMG etc.
Also engineers in such squad would work normally. So no acces to AA guns etc. unless it’s an apropriet squad type.

Imo such changes would make premium squads much more appealing thanks to versatility.

It looked shorter when I was writing.

I would rather see concept of pack of premiums soldier with theirs special weapons that you could just put into already existing tech tree squads. I think somebody already did topic with this idea back then.
But it’s too late for it anyway.

yes to this.

and, since everything is burning ( or me wanting to burn things )

i dare to say, let premiums be even more customizable. let players remove the weapons from the base squads and add the ability to add them to tech tree ones.

otherwise we’ll reach a point where majority of the content will be locked behind premium squads that you can’t use for other uses outside the one “intended” ( or i should say slapped 4/5/6 times with the same class and one engy )

same should for for customization. i despise with all my hearth that some of normal camos or relatively common jackets/uniforms and pieces of equipment are putted behind premium. even worse, even if i buy one, those will always be and forever be stuck on the squad composition that DF layed out and no way for me to use it on other squads that i’d like.

now, it is truee that this can be exploited, and will somewhat ruin balance.
but, we ( or devs ) could apply a little limitation. that if you have premium weapons you can apply premium weapons to them only based on a rateo of 3 to 1 soldiers.

for example, in a squad of 9 men, you can only apply 3 premium weapons.
in a squad of 6/7/8 men, you can only apply 2 premium weapons,
and for squad of 5 men, you can only apply 1.

or perhaps the opposite, might works as well to make smaller squads powerfull but still somewhat limited because you have lesser men.

idk, works the same for me.

therefore it’s somewhat regulated and won’t get to see 9 stg45s and what not.
might be an hassle to implement, but i’d think it would be worthed and balance.

personally, i’m only interested in cosmetics and we aren’t getting many. ( with fears that after the merge, we’ll get even lesser choices )

Well, we can simply allow to manage premium weapons like any other gun.

But since the only way of obtaining them would be prem squad, there will be only 3-4 avalable per player.

I wouldnt mind being able to grind xp to unlock use of tech tree weapons on premos if desired

I feel like premos represent veterans or special units, should probably have a bit more loadout choice.

Basically same just like golder order weapons.

Cool idea, I think spaghetti code on the premium squads would probably prevent us from every seeing anything like this. I mean, so many of the premos still are engineerless.
