So anyways, not necessarily a concern for me, but for a few I have seen it would be a nice gesture if not a justifiable one to allow the trading in of premium squads when the new changes occur or at least an alternative option be present. Once the new update drops, it may be best to hold off on such an offer, as no one will know how things will perform, which is another reason to offer a trade in as some would have never purchased various squads if they didn’t think they would be fun or be effective in the new version coming out.
Up sides of offering a fair trade in deal:
- Happier players.
- Those who overly supported the games developers can choose the fate of their far too numerous premium squads that they will likely not even be able to use in one full line up.
- Will make certain commonly traded in premium squads more rare, hence special. $-$ if you catch my drift.
- Valuable data can be collected via those premium squads commonly turned in for future premium squad ideas. Which is likely uniqueness, quirkiness, cool factor, historical impact, and fashion that drives purchases.
- Less bit-cha-ching.
- In the event people have way too much left over gold, it is almost free advertisement for future premium squads.
Down sides of offering a trade in deal:
- Players may think the trade in deal is unfair? That depends on what they get for their trade in.
- Exploits? Depending on how things are done, there is a possibility that you could gain more than what you put in, which could be a good thing in the end?
- Flooded customer service when many players possibly hear of exploits that no longer exist or were told malicious information, causing them to trade in squads they didn’t intend to and so on.
- People buy into a fad with their trade ins, like getting way too many extra slots, causing more #3 to happen.
- People trade in under powered squads to get better ones. This I’d argue is also a good thing as it counters people feeling of power creep.
Up side to not offering a trade in deal:
1.
Down side of not offering a trade in deal:
- Unhappy players.
- Certain loyal supporters feel like they are not getting rewarded for their devotion.
- Certain premium squads will be so unused that people will forget they have them.<-Chauchat squad that is too overpriced even for me to justify using them(;-; what’s a goober like me gotta do to get some Chauchat action besides spending ~$30) and a lot of the engineer-less ones to.
- Loss of incentive to support the game.
- Some to many people will want their money back.
A brief aside.
Back when I played world of tanks many a years ago. They offered a buy back of a sorts for old and power crept premium vehicles. One of which was my prized possession, the KV-5. It was nice that they offered a trade in deal, but I much rather have my KV-5. Sure, this trade in deal was less than stellar, as they were only willing to give 1/3 or so of the vehicles total value if my memory serves me correctly. But the fact remains that they gave us the option to trade in. Luckily I quit playing before they ruined the game so I may have a bit of rose tinted memory of it.
Thank you for your time.
