Even if your team gets slaughtered and wiped out ya still get some advancement … in the Campaign and perks and upgrades for squads … but then I am using the earlier squads of the Berlin Campaign so who knows …

Well, if we are making propaganda about premium account, I guess it’s fair and worthed for just a few bucks, especially if you don’t have much time.
I managed to archive 17 levels by roughly playing 4 hours per day during the first OBT weeks and somewhat, always being first on the team.
But despite losing or winning, its based on your performances. And battle rewards does affect the overhall points gained 
( although, I think the battle pass its more important than the premium account, but its matters of opinions. And I can see the possible counterpoints )
