Predictions for Japanese campaigns?

While I see a few topics suggesting different campaigns they think would be likely, I am just curious in general what campaigns people are generally expecting would come first?

The three big possibilities I see are Battle of Shanghai (the only one I know of where the Chinese used tanks), or Iwo Jima/Okinawa (similar enough in timeframe and nature that it could be either/or or combined).

I feel the nature of the latter would be late enough that it would provide both sides with the most technology to choose from and balance. The first one features two sides that were both very much struggling with technology and organization, putting them on an almost even playing field when it comes to how a game like this is balanced, though a lack of Chinese airpower could be a problem. Could give the opportunity to see some biplane action though iirc.

Thoughts, other ideas on what a Japan campaign might look like?

Is guadalcanal there is already the code of the campaign in the editor

That’s interesting. Sounds pretty cool but I am curious what they are going to do in regards to tanks. Off the top of my head, the best tank the Japanese had access to might have been the Chi-Ha Kai, while the US had M3A2s, minimally, if not Jumbo Shermans. Not sure on which tanks participated, but while balancing low tier tanks shouldn’t be an issue, I am not sure what they will do about the higher tiers.

I won’t need powerful tanks to explode the enemies of our god emperor of the sun! Mere tnt strapped on my back will do, as I charge the filthy usa pigs metal beasts, and prepare to face my ancestors with honour!

(I’m already getting into character)

Tis’ why lunge mine is so needed, preferably in the mine slot so every soldier can use it and imagine a speed boost while using it :star_struck:

Shanghai is unlikely due to how few equipment options there are, which would make getting to 40 levels almost impossible for either side. Iwo Jima on it’s own wouldn’t have enough maps. Rolling it with Okinawa might work, but Okinawa is big enough for it’s own campaign. IMO, the two best campaigns would be Okinawa and 1944/1945 Burma, but that is just me.

Dunno because two laze war campaigns where Japan would have similiar equipment?

Best would we one early/ mid-war and one late-war.

Thing is, Burma is Commonwealth and China against Japan with the Americans mostly only providing Air support if anything at all. Furthermore the Commonwealth forces were primarily using surplus from the North Africa Campaign which would effectively make it a mid war campaign with late war planes.

Jumbo didn’t exist yet

I predict any Japanese campaigns will have Japanese military in them.

I was talking about Japan stuff.

The thing about Japan is it’s infantry equipment and armour is mostly stagnant, with all of the “late war” stuff typically reserved for the defence of the home islands. Thus, Japan’s equipment will probably be dependent on what the other side gets, as if it can make do with mid-war stuff like in Burma regardless of year, it will do so while in like Okinawa where it needs late war stuff for balance, it will get it despite that stuff never leaving the home islands.

If we are lucky it will encompass all of the theater and not be broken up like the Eastern Front was. The player base honestly can’t support any more fractions after the Pacific. Just having it as the whole theater as well will make it so we aren’t unlocking the same thing 3 times. Been pretty much hounding the CC discord about not breaking the Pacific up.

Cheers
