On July 9 and 10, 1943, on the southern coast of Sicily, Italy, the Allies mobilized more than 150,000 troops and launched a large-scale amphibious and airborne assault supported by over 3,000 warships and 4,000 aircraft.
The operation aimed to oust Axis forces from Sicily, secure control of the Mediterranean Sea, and establish a springboard for the subsequent invasion of mainland Italy.
I think this would make a perfect event featuring British and Italian squads.
But what form should it take exactly?
Method of appearance

- Four minor quests every two days, rewarding small melee weapons or skins.

- Event marathon that grants exclusive squads upon completion.

- Fixed preset event mode forcing players to use a bunch of underpowered gear.
I recall there was a famous intelligence deception operation called Operation Mincemeat prior to this campaign.

So far, the best reward is a squad of flamethrowers for allies.
