I was thinking about what the new Normandy fighter planes might be. It would be nice if they added the Mosquito and the Heinkel HE-219. Both entered service before June '44 and I’d like to see them in action. What do you think about it?
People might try out the new aircraft and then keep going back to playing P47 and Ju188 just for those 10 HVARs or 6 250kg bombs.
Just like the Me410 in Normandy, new air force planes do enrich the game, but people will still go back to playing with planes that have proven to be OP just to get a win.
As for more OP aircraft? No, the current Normandy firepower density is already a bit too much, and I don’t think that would be a good idea. what DF really needs is to tweak the Normandy tech tree like this Tunisian engineer tweak, so that the growth curve for both sides is smoother and more reasonable. The Lanchester is great, but a Lanchester that can’t be unlocked until level 26? A complete joke.
Yes I agree with you about the tech tree. Especially in Normandy, the best tanks and planes (such as the Jumbo or the Ju-188) were immediately made available, making the new levels practically obsolete.
The biggest disappointment was the introduction of the Jagpanzer at level 39, which definitely underperformed the Tiger or Panther. I am aware that perhaps the Uhu or the Mosquito could suffer the same fate, but with a rearrangement of the campaign as in Tunisia they could prove to be excellent (and not necessarily OP) machines.
