Short explanation:
- shrapnel & pistol caliber ammo (from pistols, SMGs, unique weapons like Coenders MG, approx. energy 1/6 of full rifle, 1/3 of intermediate) - leave at 10% as it is now.
- short rifle rounds (e.g. 7.92x33 from StG44, with half the muzzle energy of 7.92x57 full rifle round) - change to 5%
- full rifle rounds (MGs, Semi-Auto and Select-Fire rifles, Bolt action rifles) - change to 0%

The title is self explanatory.
Historically, SN-42 and other variants of body armor were most effective against pistol bullets. Shrapnel is chaotic and small pieces don’t have a lot of kinetic energy and penetration, so the resistance to those may remain at 10%.
Intermediate rounds vary in their muzzle energy, but with example of 7.92x33 having 1,9k J of energy while 7.92x57 has 3,6 kJ with the same caliber, I assume some middle ground may be implemented here, making it 5% damage resistance. That would give weapons like StG44 a 2-shot kill against Vitality+BA.
Rifle rounds were deflected only when coming at an angle and at a distance of 100+ meters, a distance that’s rare to be shooting firearms at in our game, so for the sake of unification resistance to them could be removed.
I know there are a lot of complaints against BA damage resistance being above zero, and this is my vision how the middle ground can be achieved between a balanced game and immersion.
IMO, main reason to change BA to less resistance is that it would make balance between factions (mainly at top tier with full rifle cartridge weapons meta) easier for devs.
