Under the latest news post there was a discusion about smoke arty and exp for using smokes. I want to give this a bit of attention since in many games I often see that my allies use smoke in a way that blinds me instead of the enemy.
I think this can be fixed with mentioned exp reward.
Suggestion:
Give some basic exp for deploying smoke and give additional points for enemies that are enveloped in the smoke. Kind of like in case of WP grenades.
This way players will be encouraged to throw smoke at the enemy to blind them instead of friendlies.
Because the smoke hurts his eyes.
And besides, smoke doesn’t work like in WOW that you see everything while inside it. Smoke is a double-edged weapon that both harms and helps both sides.
Except HE grenade thrown in the same place will give you kill(s).
So why would I do that?
I can throw smoke, get some points, and get kills with gun risking my life.
Or I can throw a grenade, get some kills and then rush in already with some kills and with less enemies who can kill me.
Also of it will in deed be exploited, give 1exp for smokes. It’s better than 0 but I don’t think it’s enough to sacrifice HE grenade, molotov or EP.
There are various ways to use smoke, and not all of them are always good or useful in all situations. Giving points for just blanketing with smoke will likely just cause more issues.
Don’t get me wrong, I wish there was a GOOD way to incentivize the usage of smoke, but the reality is that outside of “GOOD usage makes you more likely to win”, there really isn’t. At least that I have seen.
I think we need to incentivise people to get assist points for kills that occur within the range of the smoke, or something like that… IDK, I’m sure there are more ideas.
