Pilots parachuting into grayzone = respawn screen

Personally I really dislike that when I jump out the plane as pilot and I land outside of the map, I’m forcefully redeployed on the main spawn. I’d prefer to maybe get some points (0.5*crash landing lets say) after landing, not get a squad death and just get back to the spawn screen and continue to play normally (select a squad, select a spawn, deploy).

Reasons being:

  • From the realism perspective: it’s a total BS to collect a crashed pilot only to deploy him as a solo infantryman. Complete waste of resources.

  • From the gameplay perspective: I have to waste time parachuting and then waste time running from the main spawn to fight with a single dude who is completely unfit for the task. I’d much rather spawn with 7 well equipped soldiers on a rally point instead.

Of course if I land in the playable area, I should be able to fight normally like an infantryman as this is kind of realistic and has gameplay potential.

eh, would make parachuting essentially useless.I don’t think people really care about their deaths. Why don’t you just go down with the plane if you want to go straight to the deploy screen

Parachuting is already useless as it’s simply a waste of time without any advantages.
Currently I either die or I’m deployed on the main spawn as one dude.
My idea would give you points, no death and an option to deploy a squad (that is actually capable of fighting) in the place you want. Or you can die as it’s 5-10s quicker.

I fail to see how current mechanic is in any way better than what I propose.

exactly, you cant even drop 75 m behind the objective due to the stupid teleportation that will cost you 1 min wasted time. the teleportation needs to be optional, not forced and the problem is solved.

so you are saying when you get down from parachuting you should be able to spawn one of your squads?wouldn’t that be slightly broken.

As for points, don’t you get them when you parchute down?or do you want it increased?

As for the spawn yea i do agree with you,it is quite annoying getting spawned all the way in the back with one guy, maybe they should do something like spawn you on the map where your teammates are the most densely populated,or something simple like just spawn you closer to the objective

You can literally already do this by suiciding.
I just want to make it a legitimate mechanic that exists on purpose.

I don’t think you get points for parachuting. Though maybe I don’t remember as I don’t parachute often due to reasons described above.

I’d rather spawn in a squad that is actually designed for infantry combat unlike a solo pilot.

yeah but when you suicide you still have to wait for the timer to redeploy,i assume the thing you want would just immediately spawn one of your squads

No. It would work just like after you die.
Difference is that you don’t get a death in your statistics and get some additional points.

Maybe later we could add some deployment time reduction but firstly we have to test the basic idea.

yea there should be better options for planes. Like if they can fly to a distance to leave the battlefield the player can spawn another squad without costing spawn points. the same is with successful landing in battlefield or only cost 25% since the plane is recked. and only cost 50% if all crew survived.

i guess they could give you the option to choose between continuing to be a pilot on the ground or spawn a new squad and get some extra points without registering your death but i don’t really know if it can be correctly implemented.Like this is just spawning your squad without draining your reinforcements, like where would the squad even spawn?

I pretty much agree with this, just a few things to note:

On custom, lone warriors battle mode, single pilot isn’t exactly… at a significant disadvantage, compared to other lone warriors. So, I think there it could stay as-is.
There’s a separate imbalance problem with multi-pilot/bomber/strike craft pilots, as well as tank crews in this game mode, but I suppose it’s a separate topic.

Then there are mentioned several-pilot units…
Should they really get the same treatment?
Frankly, I’d prefer to see the minimum allowed squad sizes to be reduced to 2. I now start to like the smaller squads and 1 person for each task kind of composition.
