Hello friends,
For some time now, I’ve been wondering what specifically I don’t like about the current perk system. What are those most triggering aspects.
Probably it will be, first of all, the pre-set perk pool, and the randomness of receiving them.
Now think about how many times have you had to delete completely useless perks, to be able get that dreamy Vitality perk? This small example alone is quite enough to make us realize that the perk system is desperately in need of overhaul.
In my deep conviction, perks (or soldier skills) should emerge depending on what you specifically do with that soldier during battle. That makes perfect sense. If a soldier withstands a lot of shots, and still manages not to die, his vitality rises, if he uses a lot of breathe hold, this trait lengthens in the long run, if he is able to run a lot all around, his stamina increases and so on.
That way, you as a player would have complete control over your soldiers as they gain one or another perk, according to the style of your game-play.
What’s more, I think the entire tier system for soldiers (tier I, II, or III) is unnecessary, and way it should be that, every soldier you buy, even your own first rifle squad, would eventually be able to reach / unlock every perks accordingly, how that soldier performing in battle, and just train that skill trees to get the best possible levels of that skill.
